Tom Cruise becomes highest-paid movie star with $100M for 'Top Gun: Maverick', Joaquin Phoenix nabs $20M for 'Joker 2'
It doesn’t come as a shock when we hear that an actor has raised his fee after his or her previous movie went on become a gigantic hit at the box office. For years, actors have been charging millions of dollars for being a part of the project that they are offered and the production giants are paying them that amount without even negotiating. However, a new report has finally given us a better view of how much the A-list actors are being paid for making an appearance in the movie.
The report indicates that Tom Cruise will emerge as the biggest winner once ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ completes its theatrical run. As per the report, the Hollywood superstar will earn more than a whopping $100 million once the movie ends its massively successful run. However, the figure includes his salary and the eventual cut of home entertainment rentals and streaming revenue. On the other hand, Joaquin Phoenix is speculated to earn $20 million for ‘Joker 2’.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio and Pitt are being paid $30 million each for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and the Untitled Formula 1 biopic by Apple TV+.
The report also suggests that Jason Momoa will be getting exactly the double amount for ‘Aquaman 2’ that he received for the first one. Momoa is reportedly being paid $15 million for the second part in the ‘Aquaman’ franchise, which means the actor received $7.5 million for the first one. The report explains that Momoa signed on to do a sequel as part of his original deal for ‘Aquaman’. However, the makers renegotiated his deal after the movie went on to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office. Meanwhile, his DCEU colleague Dwayne Johnson is receiving a salary of $22.5 million for ‘Black Adam’.
Talking to Variety, one studio executive said that Cruise justifies what he’s getting because he travels all around the world to promote his movie and not everyone tends to do that. He added, “I would never bet against Tom Cruise. Most actors aren’t worth what you pay them, but Cruise and maybe Dwayne Johnson justify their salaries.”
