The Paws of Destiny: Meet Jindiao, the latest 'Kung Fu Panda' villain will frustrate you with his unmatched evil

Jindiao, whose literal translation means the 'Golden Bird' has nothing golden about him, because he is a wolf in a sheep's clothing

The Paws of Destiny: Meet Jindiao, the latest 'Kung Fu Panda' villain will frustrate you with his unmatched evil

'Kung Fu Panda' series has gone all "Hai Yah" as 'Paws of Destiny' started streaming on Amazon Prime Video on November 16. Not reminiscent of the past 'Kung Fu Panda' franchise, we meet an entire new set of Panda Kun Fu masters in the series and an entire new set of villains. And this time around, unlike the villanous Tai Lung or Kai from the previous installments, Jindiao comes as a feeble villain, pretending to be a weak Buddhist monk, when in fact, he is the vilest of all.

It takes some time to get a taste of how truly evil he is, mainly because he knows what he wants and instead of directly attacking his enemies, he deploys an entire range of minion villains to accomplish his deeds meanwhile pretending to limp and preach as an old, wise, enlightened master in a temple.

To introduce Jindiao, an adage "wolf in a sheep's clothing" would be precise, but instead of wolf, he's an evil dragon, possessing the body of a vulture. An Angry Bird, if you will, but he is scarier than just angry foe, he is wounded and seeks revenge. Prepare to be awestruck by the sheer versatility of Jindiao the vulture, voced by Seve Blum.

As a wrecked avian, who is a victim of this demonic possession, you cannot help but pity the character, but as a typical villain fighting with all his might to acquire the Chi of the universe, even if that means hurting baby Pandas, you cannot help but loathe him. Nobody touches or messes with baby Pandas, in real life or in cartoons!

Having watched the series I can cofirm that Jindiao's wicked wiles come glaringly scary because he can go to any extreme to fetch his evil purpose, destroy the scroll containing the secrets of the Four Constellations and feed on the Chis of many Kung Fu masters, including the protagonist's Po, in such a way that you will be reminded of Harry Potter's Dementors. Sadly there's no spell in the Kung Fu Panda universe, but thank god for heroic Pandas, our worry does not last long.

However, Jindiao is an efficient foe. He cleverly manages to tackle all his enemies and fulfill his evil desires even though his minions keep failing him time and again. From poisoning to possession, the red and black vulture seems to be an expert on his ignoble trade. Conspicuously navigating and establishing his dictatorship in the sliest way possible. It's frustrating to know that our heroes cannot immediately identify the ultimate foe.

The series follows the story of four baby Pandas, namely Nu Hai, Bao, Jing, and Fan Tong, as they stumble upon a mystical cave beneath Panda Village. The four kids, as a consequence of the mischief, somehow end up absorbing the Chi of ancient and powerful Kung Fu warriors known as the Four Constellations. Based on traditional Chinese astronomy, the Four Constellations — Blue Dragon, Black Tortoise, White Tiger, and Red Phoenix — are said to have been the first warriors to achieve total mastery of Chi.

As ancient as the legend goes, equally ancient is Jindiao. A few millennia ago, the Four Constellations used their combined power to defeat Jindiao managing to retain the good chi and the evil chi for the sake of balance. The four masters then sealed themselves in an underground temple to render harmony in the world. But what the four masters failed to realize was that Jindiao was not dead.

Jindiao, whose original form is that of a snake-like dragon, went on to possess the body of a wrecked vulture, who then went on to mask himself as a teacher. But he had his entire focus on opening the gates of the Four Constellation temple and acquire the scroll that would harness the powerful Chi's which would then restore him to his former glory. He is not pleased with his own choice of possession. Why vulture?

As events unfurl, we will know exactly why the new villain of the series is unlike any we've witnessed in the Panda universe, but enough with the spoilers! Go watch it for yourself and come back to read more about the new universe unlocked.
