'King Richard' Fan Review: Internet gives perfect 10 to 'must see' Will Smith flick

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the film serves drama, inspiration and thrill in ample doses

'King Richard' was declared a hit even before it hit cinemas. Call it the effect of the right content in the trailers or a sneak peek of Will Smith's powerful performance as Serena and Venus Williams' father, Richard Williams, there was enough to believe the flick would be a blockbuster, and a movie worthy of a string of Academy Awards. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a whopping 93% rating at the time of writing this piece.

The movie revolves around Richard and his journey in raising the future tennis superstars. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the film serves drama, inspiration, and thrill in ample doses while giving a look at the lives of Serena and Venus before their rise to stardom. Twitter had fans heaping praises. "I stayed up, waiting for King Richard to be available on HBO Max. Definitely a MUST see!! I love that @serenawilliams @Venuseswilliams paved the way for us all. It means so much for young black girls to see yourself in your dreams. I love it #KingRichard," read one of the tweets.
