British musician and songwriter Archie Marshall, known to most as 'King Krule' has released the second single from his upcoming album 'Man Alive!'

Titled 'Alone, Omen 3', the single was originally debuted in November 2019 through a short film 'Hey World!' and now has a music video that features Marshall and his friends going through a house of mirrors, hinting at the theme of loneliness. The video was directed by Jocelyn Anquetil, one of Marshall's close friends and a co-writer for the song.

Speaking about the meaning behind the song, Marshall said “I felt like I had gotten out of a dark place, and I was on a high...I appreciated the depression...but I also liked how I felt better in the here and now.”

In a statement, the lo-fi musician said “There really is nothing else to do here, especially when it turns to winter...Everyone I know has jobs, whereas I’d sit on my arse all day sometimes not doing anything, then I’d go to the pub with them when they finished work. It became a bit habitual,” describing the rut he found himself in prior to the mental space he describes being in now.

'Man Alive!' seems to carry many of these emotions in it, as Marshall's lyrics narrate the feelings of monotony the singer experienced. But despite these themes being a prominent feature of his latest album Marshall says he's in a very different place now. “I feel better in life. I don’t drink or smoke when I’m in the North West, so I’m pretty clean."

Marshall, who also recently became a father, added "It’s made me kind of bored of what a lot of the album’s talking about! It’s hard to know where it’s going now I’ve done it, and what I’ll do next, because of my new-found role and responsibility in the world. It’ll be good to play live, I’m looking forward to that.”

King Krule will be embarking on a tour of Europe and North America soon. In the meantime, 'Man Alive!' releases on February 21.
