'Deranged bag lady': Kathy Griffin slammed for attacking Elon Musk from late mom Maggie Griffin's account
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Kathy Griffin was banned from her Twitter account on November 6 for impersonating Elon Musk, who wrote, "Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian." To which, Griffin, who made her way to the platform again on November 7 via her late mother’s Twitter account, wrote, “I mean… you stole that joke, you a****le. People have been posting that joke for hours, you hack. Look, please do a better job running this company. It used to mean something. This is KG [Kathy Griffin] btw.” However, the exchange of tweets under her mother Maggie Griffin’s name, who died in 2020, didn't go well with people who slammed Griffin and called the act "gross."
The whole drama started when Griffin, 62, changed her profile photo to Musk’s photo and also changed her user name to Elon Musk, even though her handle remained @kathygriffin, on her blue checkmark account which goes against the company policy as impersonation. Following this, Musk, who bought Twitter on October 27, tweeted, "Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended." Shortly after her suspension, the hashtag "Free Kathy" was tweeted under her late mother's Twitter account, which hadn’t been active since 2019, as per Deadline. Griffin then replied to Musk's tweet, “I’m back from the grave to say… #FreeKathy #TipIt.”

While "#FreeKathy" started trending on the trending list, she also faced backlash for using her mother's account. One wrote, "Wow, gross. Kathy got suspended for violating TOS so she’s using her deceased mother’s account. Which is another TOS violation." Another said, "This is called ban evasion, @elonmusk. It’s also called narcissism to use your own deceased mother’s account to tweet message of support for yourself." One more expressed by saying, "I knew Elon's twitter would be wild but I never expected Kathy Griffin to get banned and then log into her dead mothers account to protest her ban."

One user said, "Deranged bag lady!!!" The criticism continued with one saying, "What in the actual f**k is wrong with this woman? Kathy Griffin is disgusting. This is her deceased mother’s account that she’s tweeting on…since she can’t tweet on her own account because she was suspended for impersonating Musk." While one of many pointed out, "Even by Kathy Griffin’s deplorably low standards, tweeting abuse from her dead mother’s account is despicable."
