Kathy Griffin is no longer friends with Ellen DeGeneres: 'I am apparently not her cup of tea'
It looks like Kathy Griffin's list of friends is getting shorter and shorter. The 58-year-old comedian spoke to Rosanna Scotto while on 'Good Day New York' on Thursday morning and revealed that she and comedian Ellen DeGeneres are no longer friends.
She says it is because of a story written in Griffin's 2016 memoir which is titled 'Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index'. Griffin has said in the past that she called DeGeneres “a f - - king untalented hack” in a phone call after DeGeneres declined to do a tribute to Joan Rivers after her 2014 death.
As reported by Fox, when Scotto asked Griffin what had happened between the two, she responded saying, "I am apparently not her cup of tea, but I think she is great... I am not a comedy snob."
She further added that she was vulgar but was supportive of "clean comedians and prop comedians and topical comedians and observational comedians."
"I'm just happy whenever a female—especially a female over 50—is still in the game," she continued.
The standup comedian is presently on a press tour in order to promote her upcoming documentary/ comedy special called 'Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a Story'. The special will be documenting her life post her infamous photoshoot in 2017 which featured her holding a fake and bloody decapitated head of President Donald Trump. She received a lot of backlash for the photo and was fired from hosting New Year's Eve with Anderson Cooper on CNN as a result.
In addition to this, she was also put under federal investigation by the Justice Department for two months, temporarily put on the No-Fly List, had multiple shows canceled and lost many sponsorship deals.
Cooper and Griffin's friendship also came to an end when he publicly scolded her on his show for the photoshoot. At the time, Cooper said, "For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate."
Griffin revealed that she has not spoken to him since even after he lost his mother in June. Griffin shared, "Anderson Cooper and Jeff Zucker are cut from the same cloth… a lot of these older white guys hate me, and they’ve hated me for years because I’ve been a ballsy chick my whole career and I’ve never learned my lesson."
