Kate Middleton, who will have been married to Prince William for nine years this April, reminisced about her early days with the royal and revealed he used to cook her fancy meals in a bid to impress her.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 37, got candid as she spoke to Mary Berry for 'A Berry Royal Christmas' and recalled how their relationship was when they first met at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where they were both studying.

She told Berry that William was quite the cook, but that his specialty happened to be a certain bolognese sauce, a meat-based sauce made from tomatoes, minced beef, garlic, wine, and herbs.

"In university days he used to cook all sorts of meals," she said. "I think that's when he was trying to impress me, Mary! Things like Bolognese sauce, and things like that."

When Berry asked her if her husband still cooks for her now, she admitted he did, though not as often as before. "He sometimes does actually — he's very good at breakfast," she admitted.

But it seems as though, these days, William has taken a back seat and lets his wife show off her culinary skills instead, with the Prince admitting that she was the one who mainly cooked in their household.

"I can do tea, Mary, but not cooking," he said in the program. "Catherine is definitely the one who cooks, not me."

Kate also told the 84-year-old baking legend that she was the one who baked the birthday cakes and that she had developed quite the passion for it.

"I love making the cake," she said. "It's become a bit of a tradition that I sort of stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, I make far too much, but I love it."

Their cooking was not the only thing the couple spoke about, with Kate revealing that she had worked as a waitress while at university. When Berry questioned her if she was any good, the mother of three said she was a "terrible" waitress.

'A Berry Royal Christmas,' which will show the royals cooking festive treats with Berry and discuss the charity work they are currently doing, will air on the UK's BBC One at 8.30 pm on December 16.
