In less than 24 hours, an adorable picture of late Prince Philip and Prince George riding a horse-drawn carriage, taken by Kate Middleton and shared on the official Instagram page of the Kensington Palace has received nearly two million likes.

The snap, in question, shows a smiling Duke of Edinburgh tugging on the reins of the horses while his great-grandson sits beside him reading a book. The picture credit reads, "Photograph taken by The Duchess of Cambridge." The caption of the picture was a long one, as it contained the heartfelt words of Prince William to commemorate his grandfather, who died on April 9.

"My grandfather’s century of life was defined by service — to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and Queen, and to our family. I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life — both through good times and the hardest days. I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her. I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humor!" the statement read.

It concluded: "My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job."

At the time of publishing, the photo had received over 1.7 million likes. After the photo was uploaded, a stream of comments in the dedication of the late duke started pouring in. Apart from William's tribute driving people to tears, people also appreciated the "beautiful" picture clicked by Kate. Among those paying tributes was Gwyneth Paltrow, who commented on the post, writing: "This is beautiful."

The next said, "Such a sweet photo...I’m sure William and Kate will make sure George, Charlotte, and Louis will remember their great-grandpa’s legacy."
