Is Mike Pence Covid-19 positive? Internet says Kamala Harris should refuse to debate unless he shows test result
After President Donald Trump tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday, October 2, people wanted to know if Vice President Mike Pence had gotten tested for the virus and if he was quarantining. Since there was no word about this from the White House or Pence himself, many of the liberals took to Twitter to urge Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris to refuse to debate Pence if the latter does not make his test results public. The debate is scheduled to take place on October 7.
"Mike Pence better not get within 5000 feet of Kamala Devi Harris I swear," one of them tweeted, while another said, "Is Mike Pence exposed? I don't want him anywhere near Kamala Harris until he's been tested and quarantined." A third commented, "Mike Pence met Trump today. Pence has to quarantine for 14 days. The VP Debate MUST be canceled or Kamala Harris should refuse to participate." And a person said, "Keep Pence away from Kamala Harris... debate via zoom or cancel the debate!"
More Twitter users had similar thoughts. "Kamala need(s) to be in another room when she debate Mike Pence. We have to protect our girl," one wrote, while another quipped, "Y'all, Mike Pence has been exposed. He HAS TO QUARANTINE. There's no way Kamala Harris should consent to being in the same room with him. If Pence wants to debate, let them do it via satellite." Someone else wrote, "Now that Trump and Melania have tested positive, Kamala Harris should not debate Pence until he’s tested, and not unless they’re masked and shielded by plexiglass. But I do yearn for Kamala to eviscerate Pence about coronavirus Task Force, now more than ever. #TrumpHasCovid."
There were also those who were curious about whether Pence would lie and say that he had tested positive despite testing negative for Covid-19 just to get out of debating Harris. "Pence just french-kissed Trump so he can get out of debating Kamala Harris," one tweeted while another user asked, "Is this all a ploy to get Pence out of his debate with Harris?" A third pondered if a canceled VP debate would be a missed opportunity to see Harris go up against Pence. "Regardless of how you feel about Kamala Harris, I think we're all a little disappointed that we probably won't get to see her dogwalk Mike Pence across the debate stage," the user wrote.

We previously reported that the vice presidential debate in question is scheduled to be held at the University of Utah on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. The co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates, Frank J Fahrenkopf, says the event will be smaller than usual, as reported by Marie Claire. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, there won't be more than 150 to 200 people on-site.
The Washington Bureau Chief for USA Today Susan Page will oversee the debate. It will be her first time moderating such an event. According to Marie Claire, she has covered the White House for four decades and through six presidencies and this will be her 11th presidential campaign coverage. "The debates are a crucial part of making our democracy work, and I am honored to participate," Page told USA Today. This debate, if held, will have nine segments, each of which will be about 10 minutes long and each candidate will have two minutes to respond to the moderator's opening question, the commission said.
