Democratic party members and its supporters are delivering powerful speeches against President Donald Trump and his administration at the Democratic National Convention 2020 that's taking place on Monday, August 17. United States senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, was one among them, who is being heaped with praise for his speech directed at Trump administration's inefficiency.

Joe Biden's running mate, Kamala Harris, took to Twitter to personally thank Sanders for using the platform to share views and opinions about the upcoming elections and how it can impact the public. Harris tweeted, "The future of our democracy is at stake. The future of our economy is at stake. The future of our planet is at stake. We must come together, defeat Donald Trump and elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris." Thank you, @BernieSanders. Together, we can win."

In the eight-minute-long speech, Sanders dwells deep into the consequences of Trump's presidency. He starts off on a strong note by shedding light on the dire circumstances caused by the novel coronavirus in the US, including the public health crisis and the worst economic collapse since the great depression. Sanders says, "In the midst of all of this, we have a president who is not only incapable of addressing these crises, but is leading us down the path of authoritarianism." In the later segment of his speech, Sanders warns against voting for Trump saying, "if Donald Trump is reelected, all the progress we have made will be in jeopardy."

He further points out that Trump has "undermined the US Postal Service, deployed the military and federal agents against peaceful protestors, threatened to delay the election, and suggested that he will not leave office if he loses." Like many, who have blamed the POTUS for the surge in the fatalities from Covid-19, Sanders also blames the President for "refusing to take strong action to produce the masks, gowns, and gloves our healthcare workers desperately need." He adds, "Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Trump golfs."

The Senator in his DNC speech slammed Trump for his latest execution orders, which according to him threatens "the very future of social security and medicare". He further notes that even before Trump's response to the pandemic, the nation was grappling with other economic issues, impacting the hardworking families the most. Later, he assured that Biden would "rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and fight the threat of climate change by transitioning us to 100% clean electricity over the next 15 years, these initiatives will create millions of good-paying jobs all across our country". He also establishes that "Joe Biden will end the hate and division Trump has created." He concluded saying, "The future of our economy is at stake. The future of our planet is at stake. We must come together, defeat Donald Trump, and elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our next president and vice president."

A few Internet users who seem to be impressed with Sanders's speech shared reactions similar to Harris. One Tweeted, "Thank GOD for Bernie Sanders. Such comforting words tonight from Senator Sanders and from our wonderful and esteemed (former) First Lady, Michelle Obama .Words like rain on parched ground! We all have been so thirsty."

While another added, "God bless you all! Trump will be defeated."

Meanwhile, a few have expressed a rather different opinion about Sanders's speech while questioning the Democrats' contribution towards the betterment of the nation. One user noted, "And ask yourself these officials have been in power for 20+ years and what did they achieve? Why would it change under them in the next 4... And I'm pretty sure they've really managed to get the silent majority awaken this time. But I guess we'll see come November."

Another added, "It’s a republic. You’ve been around far too long. Your opportunity to save or improve anything is long past."
