Internet is abuzz with anything and everything related to former vice president Joe Biden’s running mate in 2020 elections, Kamala Harris, ever since the announcement was made on Tuesday, August 11. While a lot about Harris is being discussed on social media, be it her political journey or personal life, some of Twitter users decided to dig up a video from her appearance on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' from 2018, in which she’s has joked about killing President Donald Trump.

As a part of a Question and Answer session, DeGeneres asks Harris that if she were to be stuck in an imaginary elevator with President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, or Senator Jeff Sessions, who would she choose to be stuck with? Harris looks away for a moment and responds saying, “Does one of us have to come out alive?”. The crowd bursts out laughing on hearing Harris’s response and so does the host of the show.

When the video started making rounds on the Internet, many questioned Harris’s response and asked if a Republican would have received a similar reaction had they joked about perishing a Democrat. Author and comedian Tim Young had noted back in 2018, “WATCH Kamala Harris joke about killing Trump, Pence and Sessions on Ellen... and everyone laughs.  Could you imagine what the reaction would be if any of those men said the same thing about her?!?!”

One Twitter user wrote, “So they say such things... And laugh. Then when something actually goes down, it's all the Republicans fault. Smh”

Meanwhile, a few of them started drawing comparisons between DeGeneres and Harris, specifically pointing at the controversies the television host has gotten embroiled in. One wrote, "Creepers...both of them." Another added, "Kamala Harris is the Ellen Degeneres of politics..."

One agitated follower tweeted in response to the video, "Someone should make a “who’s worse” comparison between @KamalaHarris and @TheEllenShow... I heard Ellen once fat shamed someone like 30 years ago... but Kamala convicted over 1900 people for smoking a plant. Not sure which is worse."

One Internet user suggested that DeGeneres should have Harris on her show now while questioning about her remaining low key lately. "@TheEllenShow do you like @KamalaHarris? Why not have her on your show? Why are you so quiet these days?" read the tweet.

Harris had appeared on DeGeneres's show before she dropped out of the run for President. Biden's VP pick is seen talking about her big ambitions on the talk show. When the host asks Harris how is she "dealing with what's going on in the world", specifically referring to the negativity women are subjected to, Harris says, "We have to be joyful warriors". She further adds, "I decided at the end of last year, there was so much that was just creating anxiety, depression and anger. I was just like I'm done with that. I don't like that feeling. Let's just go into 2018 and be joyful warriors."

In the later segment, she touches upon her biracial ethnicity, being born to immigrant parents, fighting for the ideal of the country and much more, before indulging in the Q and A session that is in question even two years later.
