Will Kamala Harris be impeached? Lindsey Graham says GOP could put her on trial for 'bailing out rioters'

Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday suggested that Republicans could move to impeach Vice President Kamala Harris — arguing that former President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial over provoking the Capitol riot had 'opened Pandora’s Box to future presidents' and that Harris could be impeached in a future Republican-controlled House for "incitement of insurrection."

Graham's warning came a day after the Senate voted 57-43 to acquit Donald Trump on that same charge. Speaking on 'Fox News Sunday,' the South Carolina Republican said the vice president’s support for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which helped Black Lives Matter protesters to bail out over the summer, could leave her liable for the same punishment. "If you use this model, I don't know how Kamala Harris doesn't get impeached if the Republicans take over the House, because she actually bailed out rioters and one of the rioters went back to the streets and broke somebody's head open," Graham told host Chris Wallace.

Graham, who was one of the 43 Republican senators that voted to acquit the former president, harshly criticized the trial record, calling it a 'joke', before turning to Harris, a former US senator for California who took up her present position less than a month ago.

Twitter exploded with comments and views as they shared video clips from Graham's interview and spewed hate towards Harris. "Kamala Harris openly encouraged rioters and directly funded domestic terrorism. She needs to be impeached," said a tweet. "Kamala Harris bailed out violent rioters. She will be impeached once the GOP takes over in 2022. The bar is *extremely* low now for future impeachments on both sides. Let the game begin," said another tweet. "Wow ... @LindseyGrahamSC just delivered this messaging gift to @dccc @RepSeanMaloney on Fox News saying, “I don’t know how Kamala Harris doesn’t get impeached if the Republicans take over the House.” Every Republican candidate should be asked if they will impeach @KamalaHarris," said a Twitter user, while another said, "Impeached twice, acquitted both times. Guess it’s time for the left to go back to inciting violence". 

"Elected Officials are sworn to Office to protect the Constitution Foreign and Domestic... anyone not honoring their Oath should be impeached!" said aTwitter user. "When Twitter has higher standards against insurrection and violence than Republicans Impeached Yes I Do," quipped another. WIth the news coming on the heels of Valentine's Day, a tweet said, "Happy Valentine's Day to everyone who's never done an insurrection and hasn't been impeached twice." Another said the videos exposed the democrats didn't have CNN to 'hide behind: "The videos weren’t doctored… and it exposed a lot of what the democrats have been doing on live news. They didn’t have cnn to hide behind - they’ve been exposed. Harris will be the next impeached." 

'Impeached for what exactly?'

Many Twitter users wondered why Harris needed to be impeached at all. "Impeached for what exactly? For being a woman in power? For being a woman of color?", said a tweet. "To equate BLM with the insurrectionist is old school racism. That's what @LindseyGrahamSC is doing, by saying Kamala Harris should be impeached. Fighting for your lives vs temper tantrums cause the guy you voted for lost, is not the same," said another. "During #BlackHistoryMonth Republicans think Kamala Harris should be impeached and are calling Black Lives Matter domestic terrorists. The Republican party supports white supremacists murdering cops in our nation's capital while attacking our first Black VP. They're racist af," said a Twitter user.
