'Jumanji' is undoubtedly one of the largest and most loved movie franchises in the world. The most recent installments 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' made around $962 million globally at the box office, and 'Jumanji: The Next Level' brought in $796 million.

Now, exciting fans around the world, we hear that 'Jumanji 4' is in the works.

Release date

Since the news that 'Jumanji 4' is happening has been confirmed by director Jake Kasdan, we know it's coming for sure, but the exact date of release is yet to be confirmed by the producers.

'Welcome to the Jungle' released on December 20, 2017, and two years later, 'The Next Level' released on December 13, 2019, so we're speculating 'Jumanji 4' would probably head for a December 2021 release.

Plot

The plot of the movie is yet to be released. The movie could be considered to be in "early development" with Jake Kasdan discussed the fourth movie in a "franchise business in a meeting."

Kasdan claimed that the makers of the installment were "entering into the discussion prior to COVID-19. They will certainly re-engage it as soon as everyone's worked out."

"We were just getting into the conversation before this global calamity and we will re-engage it as soon as everybody's settled. We all love working together and we've loved making these," Kasdan said.

If we were to speculate the plot, you would recall that the ending of 'The Next Level' had the Jumanji game make its way to the real world — a tribute to the 1995 movie.

So, going back to the ending of 'The Next Level', the sequel ends with the Jumanji game world coming into the real world like it did in the original 1995 movie. We can assume that that's what's going to happen although this is speculation at it's best.

"Not much beyond what you can see there [in the credits scene]. You know, there's hope that if this one is received in such a way, that we're having that conversation," said director Kasdan. What's interesting is that Dwayne Johnson may be playing a villain!

Cast

The cast of the previous installments included Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black and they contributed greatly to the success of the films. Although the cast members are yet to be set in stone, we're hoping their characters return to the big screen.
