Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich: How everyone's favorite couple started having trouble in paradise
When Julianne Hough and NFL star Brooks Laich starting dating, it was as though they were everyone's favorite couple. It was like a match made in heaven — gorgeous Julianne, just out of a break up with Ryan Seacrest, and Brooks, successful and single, falling head over heels with his former TV crush. Unfortunately, heartache seems to have got to their fairytale too.
The couple was extremely open about their relationship on social media and Brooks even shared the moment he had asked her to be his girlfriend back in 2017, two years after they were engaged. That's right, the relationship escalated so quickly, he had put a ring on it just two years into seeing each other.
"She is the most kind, generous and loving person I have ever met, and I am so grateful every single day to be by her side. I love you so much," he had said on Instagram next to the black and white picture. They were super open about their honeymoon too, sharing loads of snaps with their fans. Some found them to be 'TMI' but these two thought it was okay. After all, when you're in love you want to shout it from the rooftops.
At one point before he met Julianne, Brooks had even scoped out for the perfect ring for her. To many it's strange, but to him, it was clarity. He had wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. She too had told her fans on her blog that she knew he had been "the one" since the day they met. But, last Christmas is when fans noticed she wasn't wearing her wedding ring.
A source told People, "Julianne wants to become a new age, free-spirit, no boundaries guru, and she is living her life by this sort of 'no limits, no rules' mantra, and that doesn't vibe with being a wife." Then there was Brooks' cryptic New Year Instagram post where he said he wanted "to learn more about intimacy and my sexuality" just a year after Julianne came out as "not straight" to Women's Health.
It is still unclear as to what went so wrong. One moment they were the world's favorite couple and the next, they were talking about "next chapters". She was spotted picking him up from Hollywood Burbank this week and the two looked quite happy to see each other, so there may still be hope for them.
