Judge Esther Salas case: FBI reveals it has evidence linking shooting suspect to murder of California lawyer
FBI investigators revealed on Wednesday, July 22, that they "have evidence" linking the suspect in the shooting of Judge Esther Salas' son and husband in their home to the killing of a California men's rights attorney, Marc Angelucci.
The bureau released a statement and said, "As the FBI continues the investigation into the attack at the home of U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas (District of New Jersey), we are now engaged with the San Bernardino California Sheriff’s Office and have evidence linking the murder of Marc Angelucci to FBI Newark subject Roy Den Hollander."
"This investigation is ongoing," the statement continued, Fox News reports. FBI agents are of the belief that 69-year-old Hollander, who is a Manhattan attorney and self-described anti-feminist, had posed as a delivery driver on Sunday and had gone to Salas home. He shot dead her 20-year-old son and injured her husband. Hollander was discovered dead on Monday, July 20, in Sullivan County which is located in New York. He was found dead less than 24 hours after Salas' son and husband were shot.
As per NBC, a Walther.380 caliber handgun was recovered from Hollander's scene of an apparent suicide. However, the ballistic results have not yet been released. Sources also revealed a file or an envelope that was probably meant for Salas was located close to the body of Hollander. It is said that some of the information could have contained details about Angelucci who was killed on July 11.
Insiders shared that investigators had also found some material and information about Judge Janet DiFiore who is the Chief Judge in New York. According to a court spokesperson, the FBI briefed DiFiore about the information about her that was found in the car's suspect.
New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, revealed that the state would be willing to provide her with some additional protection. We had earlier reported that the shooting at Judge Salas' house left the judge's son Daniel Anderl, 20, dead, and her defense attorney husband Mark Anderl, 63, seriously injured on Sunday evening, July 19.
The attack reportedly took place around 5 pm when Mark Anderl had opened the front door to their home. Anderl was shot many times after which his son, a student at Catholic University in DC went to investigate and was fatally shot. The FBI Newark Office also released a statement and said, "The FBI is investigating a shooting that occurred at the home of Judge Esther Salas in North Brunswick Township, New Jersey earlier this evening, July 19."
"We are looking for one subject and ask that anyone who thinks they may have relevant information please call FBI Newark at 973-792-3001. We are working closely with our state and local partners and will provide additional updates when available," the statement continued.
New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez released a statement and said, "I know Judge Salas and her husband well, and was proud to recommend her to President Obama for nomination to New Jersey's federal bench."
"My prayers are with Judge Salas and her family, and that those responsible for this horrendous act are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice," the statement added.
