'I want you guys to come back, come and join the conversation, pay attention to the news!' Williams told the other four hosts

The February 10 telecast of ‘The Five’ was not as usual since a co-host accused his colleagues of supporting the Capitol building riots and ignoring evidence of the violence presented by the Democrats at the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump. Juan Williams called out the other hosts of the panel talk show as he said, “I want you guys to come back, come and join the conversation, pay attention to the news! Clearly, what’s going on on Capitol Hill today is an attempt to hold democracy and the Constitution up. To celebrate that as the basis that we are a country of laws.”

The Wednesday Senate trial saw shocking videos of the January 6 deadly protests that killed five people, including a police officer. The footage showed protests getting violent, assaulting police officers, and smashing their way into the building at the eastern end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. One chilling video even showed former vice president Mike Pence being evacuated from the Senate chamber, escaping the rioters who were looking for him. Another clip showed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) fleeing to some safe place.

Continuing further, Williams slammed, “This impeachment trial that you guys are all ignoring, I guess you are afraid of it because it’s a reminder.” However, he was interrupted by Greg Gutfeld, who shouted, “Don’t mind read, Juan!” But soon Williams jumped in and stated, “It seems to me that what you heard today is how Trump was attacking not only Democrats but Republicans, and now he’s forcing Republicans to make a choice. You can stand with the mob that stormed Capitol Hill and said ‘bleep the cops.’ You can join the QAnon conspiracy. You can join the Proud Boys violent extremists.”

The 66-year-old journalist was again cut-in by another co-host of the show, Dana Perino, who said: “Literally nobody is doing that.” While Gutfeld, Jeanine Pirro, and Jesse Watters agreed. “Or you can stand with Liz Cheney, you can stand with Mitch McConnell, you can stand with people who believe the Republican Party should stand for conservative principle. This trial to me is about whether Republicans want to close their eyes or face the truth,” Williams added.

This came after Fox News received criticism for its programming while most of the major news channels were telecasting the second impeachment trial of Trump. Instead of focusing on the trial, the news channel was discussing other subjects, including the “cat lawyer” and the NBA.

Meanwhile, the heated exchange between the hosts of ‘The Five’ attracted a lot of attention on social media also as one user tweeted, “Juan Williams is the only one being honest and telling the truth.” The second user wrote, “Not a crowd of deep thinkers to begin with, but the point that Fox “News” is ignoring the news (the 4th impeachment trial in our nation’s history) is legit. This comes as no surprise. Fox is liable for disseminating lies that led to the insurrection. They’d like us all to forget.” “Why did they pull away from the trial? Because, as Williams said, they're afraid of the news. FOX News is FAUX News. No one under 70 watches the lies anymore. It's entertainment not news, the third user added.
