Johnny Depp's friends and family had begged him not to marry Amber Heard: 'His mom thought she was a golddigger'
Although Johnny Depp was reportedly warned by his friends against marrying Amber Heard, he ignored their advice and tied the knot with her.
Depp and Heard married in 2015 and their tumultuous marriage barely lasted for two years. At the end of it, she had gotten a restraining order against him and painted him as a domestic abuser who beat her up. As a result, he was fired from the most successful movie franchise of his career - 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
Things got so bad that by 2018, the actor was struggling to pay his bills, was forgetting his lines while shooting other movies so much so that someone had to read them out to him via a hidden earpiece and he had reportedly parted ways from his longtime lawyer and agent. On top of that, there were reports of him being addicted to recreational drugs and alcohol that was slowly but surely crippling him.
Although the unproven allegations that the 'Aquaman' actress brought against him might have played a big role in Depp's downfall, he might have invited the miseries into his life willingly despite having a fair bit of warning from his wellwishers. “Depp’s inner circle had begged him to not wed Heard or to at least obtain a prenup. Depp ignored his loved ones’ advice,” Stephen Rodrick of Rolling Stone wrote.
Not only his friends, even his family members, including his mother Betty Sue, sisters Christi Dembrowski and Debbi Depp, and his two children from previous marriage all hated Heard. Sources told TMZ back in 2016 that all of them believed Heard would "treat him like c***," and that his mother thought that the actress was a golddigger and was using him to boost her career.
Eventually, Depp reportedly cut off all contact with his sister Christie after he married Heard without a prenup. “He cut himself off from the only people looking out for him,” a longtime associate of Depp said.
A number of audio recordings that surfaced earlier this month seemed to suggest that Heard was not the victim of domestic abuse, as she had been alleging for years, and was the perpetrator instead.
