Who is the Johnny Bravo cop, why is the Internet obsessed with comparing him to the Chad meme?
The Internet is a funny place. As bizarre as it may sound, a Johnny Bravo meme has started trending on social media and it sprung up from a picture of a CBC cop. The photo shared on Twitter read: "Defund this dude. jeez." The picture began doing the rounds after a user posted it and people found out he resembled Cartoon Network's Johnny Bravo with his uncanny hair.
No sooner did it go viral, people started sharing memes of Bravo. However, the Twitter user then clarified: "I want to apologize for sharing this. It seems that this photo was photoshopped. But that cop’s still a dork."
Photoshopped or not, the picture soon started trending on Twitter and people shared several cartoon memes. "Mirror Mirror on the wall, is that Johnny Bravo from our childhood? Oh god!" one said and another wrote, "I was excited to see johnny bravo trending, maybe rebooting his cartoon but no it's some cop with f**kin space dandy hair."
If tweets on social media are to be believed, the picture was taken during the ongoing Chicago Columbus Statue protests. However, no one knows who the cop is. "Who let Johnny Bravo become a cop?" one Twitter user joked and another said, "People talking about some officer look-alike disrespecting Johnny Bravo?" Many tagged him as Chad, which is said to be slang for attractive, popular men who are sexually active but (maybe) unsuccessful with women. It is also used to denote a male individual who thinks he has swag but doesn't.
"Please tell me this is photoshopped, this man is a walking Chad Meme," one said and another posted, "Johnny Bravo cop is actually just a dude trying to look like the Chad meme."
"The Virgin Chad vs The Chad Johnny Bravo," one tweet read and another said, "Man, I love Johnny Bravo. He's a total chad. But this show definitely wouldn't fly today..... with good reason." Another said, "People see the personification of the Chad meme and think Johnny Bravo. It was a great show, to be fair." The picture took all '90s kids back to those days when 'Johnny Bravo' used to air on TV. Created by Van Partible, the animated show aired from 1997 to 2004 on Cartoon Network and centered on "a sunglasses-wearing, muscular, conceited narcissist and dimwitted self-proclaimed womanizer with a pompadour and an Elvis Presley-esque voice".
