Joe Biden releases ad using video of NATO leaders mocking Trump, says the 'world is laughing' at him
Former vice president and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden has mocked President Trump over the sensational NATO hot mic clip, saying the "world is laughing" at the US president.
French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau appeared to mock Trump in a video during the conference at Buckingham Palace.
The Biden campaign included the video as part of a campaign advertisement on Wednesday night. "The world is laughing at President Trump. They see him for what he really is: dangerously incompetent and incapable of world leadership," the tweet says. "We cannot give him four more years as commander in chief."
The trio is heard in the ad chuckling at Trump, who is also featured giving his 2018 speech at the United Nations. "The world sees Trump for what he is: insincere, ill-informed, corrupt," Biden narrates in the voice-over. "Dangerously incompetent and incapable, in my view, of world leadership."
"We need a leader the world respects," Biden says in conclusion.
The president had made it clear before his departure from the UK that he wasn't pleased with how he was treated.
When asked about the incident which captured Johnson, Macron, and Trudeau on the hot mic at a leaders' reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen on Tuesday evening, the president called the Canadian prime minister "two-faced." He later added he thought Trudeau was a nice guy nonetheless.
About an hour later, Trump tweeted that he would leave the summit without holding a scheduled press conference. But then the president was later caught in another hot mic talking about his takedown of Trudeau.
"Oh, and then you know what they'll say. 'He didn't do a press conference. He didn't do a press conference.' That was funny when I said the guy's two-faced, you know that," he was heard saying.
