Joe Biden now says he 'cannot change the trajectory of the pandemic', gets slammed: 'Over promise, under deliver'
President Joe Biden signed a series of executive orders on his first day in office to combat the Covid-19 crisis. The Democrat had vowed to make Covid-19 relief a top priority of his administration while campaigning ahead of the 2020 presidential election. At the time, he had notably slammed former President Donald Trump's pandemic response as ineffectual. However, now Biden is facing some fire.
Conservative pundit Jack Posobiec, who is known for his support of Trump on social media, shared a screenshot of a Biden post on Twitter from October, when the Democratic presidential candidate had accused the then-President of lacking a "plan to get this virus under control."
At the time, the Democrat tweeted "I do", insinuating that he had a better plan to fight the pandemic. Posobiec, in the same post, also shared a news account of President Biden admitting on Friday, January 22 that “there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.” The pro-Trump activist completed his post with the caption, "Career politician."

Biden weighed in on the Covid-19 situation in the country on January 22, when it had already surpassed 400,000 total coronavirus deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. A quarter of those deaths were registered over the previous 36 days, according to Sputnik News. The new president declared that Covid-19 related deaths are expected to reach “well over 600,000." He added: “A lot of America is hurting. The virus is surging.”
Netizens slammed Biden after this. "Is anyone really surprised? I’m frankly pissed at this response. The Democrats demanded Trump do something, now @JoeBiden says there’s nothing we can do to stop it..." one tweeted. "Yep, the next four years will just be an example of how to over promise and under deliver," another added. "Don’t forget this moment when he said Trump didn’t know what he was talking about and then used the deaths of Americans loved ones to convince us he had a plan," a third wrote, alongside a clip from the debate.

Biden signed off a slew of executive actions in the wake of his inauguration on January 20. He enacted a mandate requiring all federal employees to wear masks on federal property and promised to establish a new White House office to coordinate the Covid-19 response as well as halt the withdrawal of the US from the World Health Organization.
Furthermore, Biden said he would move “heaven and earth” to administer 100 million vaccines to Americans in 100 days as he unveiled his national Covid-19 plan. Meanwhile, he labeled his predecessor's vaccine strategy a "dismal failure." But Bloomberg noted how nearly 983,000 vaccine shots a day were being already being administered when the news President was sworn in — thereby making Biden's so-called '100-million-doses-in-100-days' plan appear not so particularly challenging.
