Who owns JK Moving Services? Virginia-based firm relocating Trumps helped Clintons and Bushes move as well
Several large moving trucks were spotted Monday morning at President Donald J. Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, fueling speculation that he will move to the plush South Florida property after leaving office on January 20. At about 9.30 am, WPTV Chopper 5 spotted at least two large trucks from JK Moving Services parked outside the club. Workers were reportedly seen moving large boxes into the property, sparking an interest in the mysterious logistics provider that has rendered services to past US leaders as well.
The 45th POTUS is set to arrive in South Florida on Wednesday morning, according to Palm Beach police. President-elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated in Washington later in the day.
JK Moving Services
The North American relocation giant was founded by Charles "Chuck" Kuhn, a passionate conservationist who serves as CEO of the company. Kuhn operates his 900-employee organization out of a high-tech business corridor in Washington just minutes from Dulles International Airport
Kuhn is known for his nature preservation efforts and has placed more than 4,000 acres in Loudoun, Frederick, and Fauquier counties in conservation easement over the past decade, thereby protecting the land from private encroachment in perpetuity.
And aside from his reputation for philanthropy, Kuhn is primarily famous in the Loudoun business community for what he built at JK Moving.
Kuhn started out as a late teenager, using one moving truck to deliver a handful of business cards in Annandale. As the years passed, Kuhn bootstrapped the company and grew it into one of the largest relocation operations in the world.
“We're not the ones being disrupted with a relocation,” the CEO told Loudoun Times in 2018. “We're not the ones in the middle of a job change, a death, a divorce. We need to stay calm, we need to stay sensitive to what our customers are facing. We need to help them take the stress out of their relocation.”
JK Moving Services recorded approximately $106 million in revenue in 2017. The company has previously landed contracts with the Department of Defense and State Department and has moved a number of influential clients, including the Bushes and Clintons from the White House.
“We moved Bill and Hillary Clinton up to New York after coming out of the White House,” Kuhn recalled to the newspaper. “My packing team was in the White House packing up all the personal items, and President Clinton comes down and sits next to one of our packers and starts going through an LP, a record collection, and talking about the different record albums, pulling out CDs … my packer was really blown away. He's sitting Indian-style on the floor next to President Clinton, going through his personal collection.”
Mr. Resident Trump
Trump changed his primary residential address from New York City to Palm Beach in 2019. However, he is yet to officially confirm if he will move to Mar-a-Lago after his presidential tenure. Meanwhile, police are "prepared to respond" to any "security concerns" and are working with federal and state agencies to gather intelligence, according to WPTV.
