Hollywood is abuzz with Tom Hanks, thanks to his latest drama film 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood', which releases on November 22. Fans and critics have heaped praise on the legendary actor for his portrayal of beloved television icon Fred Rogers.

The Academy Award-winning actor appeared on tonight's episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', where he spoke in length about his experiences while filming for his latest film and the reaction he received from Rogers' fans on watching him play the iconic personality.

Hanks revealed that he was in Texas recently when he had this strange experience. The actor said he was in an elevator with a stranger. Everything seemed normal until it wasn't anymore.

Striking a conversation with Hanks, the man asked him how his movie based on Mr. Rogers was coming along. The conversation seemed normal and the man even wished him luck when the elevator door opened to exit.

"He turned around and said, 'We take Mr. Rogers very seriously' and walked away," said Hanks sharing the rather yet funny experience from one of his latest encounters with a fan of Mr. Rogers.

Recollecting his reaction from the incident, "I was threatened in the city of three rivers," he expressed on a funny note.

'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' has garnered mind-blowing responses. Hanks on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' talked about what it took him to prepare for the film and the onus he was burdened with to keep up to the expectations of the audiences and the children's show fans, considering Mr. Rogers popularity.

'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' is a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod.

After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America's most beloved neighbor.

Jameela Jamil and Brittany Howard followed Tom Hanks on tonight’s episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'.
