What is Jimmy Carr's net worth? Comedian slammed for Holocaust remarks on his Netflix special
Who doesn't know Jimmy Carr. Stand-up comedian and entertainer definitely seem to earn the big bucks ever since he perfected dark humor to his fullest potential. That being said, how much does Carr make?
His over-the-top one-liners have won him a reported net worth of a whopping $12 million, all from making a successful career in the comedic field, according to Spear's. Who knew being funny would pay off? Carr is a hardworking comic, and along with his signature laugh coupled with stand-up tours throughout the year, he only takes five-week breaks between tours.

Carr is known for frequently treading on dangerous territories, opening up a whole can of worms. His delivery includes jokes, quick twitter humor as well as casually throwing around the F word. In Carr's opinion, he thinks that his material is not outwardly offensive, although he was looked down on for his wit in 2012, at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
In his recent stand-up comedy special Netflix, titled 'His Dark Material', Jimmy Carr made a remark, saying, "When people talk about the Holocaust, they talk about the tragedy of 6 million Jewish lives being lost to the Nazi war machine. But they never mention the thousands of Gypsies that were killed by the Nazis".
This particular comment has been widely condemned by both The Auschwitz Memorial and several other anti-hate organizations. Carr went on to say, "No one ever wants to talk about that, because no one ever wants to talk about the positives". To this, the audience began cheering.
The stand-up special debuted on Netflix as of December 25, 2021, but this one comment, in particular, gained momentum and widespread attention after a clip went viral all across social media, on Friday.
Carr right away went to defend the remark, saying it was a "very good joke", as he said on the special (not included in the viral clip). He also thought what he said was "educational" since "a lot of people don’t know that the Nazis also killed in their thousands, gypsies, homosexuals, disabled people and Jehovah’s Witnesses".
The Auschwitz Memorial took to Twitter on Friday, telling him to "learn about fate of some 23 thousand Roma and Sinti deported to Auschwitz", and being of further aid by attaching a link to an online session as well as a podcast to educate him on the sensitive matter.

It's sad to hear words that can fuel prejudice, hurt people & defile memory of their tragedy.
The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is a charity that is founded by the British government to help support the United Kingdom's commemoration of the Holocaust. They too had a say in Carr's opinion and further described his take as "abhorrent".
The trust's chief executive, Olivia Marks-Woldman said, "We are absolutely appalled at Jimmy Carr’s comment about persecution suffered by Roma and Sinti people under Nazi oppression, and horrified that gales of laughter followed his remarks. Hundreds of thousands of Roma and Sinti people suffered prejudice, slave labor, sterilization, and mass murder simply because of their identity — these are not experiences for mockery".
. @jimmycarr Your comments were not jokes. They were not funny. They were appalling, ignorant & dangerous. Roma & Sinti people faced persecution under the Nazis, & face prejudice & discrimination today. https://t.co/cNLl2Tzdri

Hey @jimmycarr , it sounds as though you need to learn & reflect a bit more. You could start with reading the life story of Baronita Adam via @HMD_UK @RomaSupport - her mother was lucky to escape when her own mother was murdered. https://t.co/jwapFMGyMK

And Mr Carr, here's some helpful contextual information too. https://t.co/Ty3w8xiMb9

Politician Nadia Whittome who is a Labour Member of the Parliament in Britain also called Carr out on Twitter and implied Netflix to "remove Jimmy Carr’s vile anti-GRT and antisemitic material". She used the acronym, GRT, short for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community.
I have written urging Netflix to remove Jimmy Carr’s vile anti-GRT and antisemitic material.

I have also requested an update from @DCMS on progress to bring streaming platforms under Ofcom regulation.

As for damage control, Carr's publicist did not respond to an email requesting comment, right away. Further, Netflix didn't respond to Whittome's demand on Twitter immediately either.
Similarly, Whoopi Goldberg is currently facing backlash right after she said that the Holocaust "was not about race", and added that the Nazi genocide of the Jews had "two groups of white people". She made this comment on ABC's talk show called, 'The View'.
Goldberg did apologize but had to do the same a second time since she tried to clarify her remarks the first time.
