According to the investigators, Guertin revealed to the police that Williamson had knocked at their door at 4am as it was his birthday weekend.
"[Guertin] stated that Arthur [Williamson] came to her home around 0400 hours, and that she let him inside the home. She stated that she and Arthur [Williamson] went into her bedroom to talk. She stated that after a while she told Arthur [Williamson] that it was getting late and that Jim [Matthews] would be home soon. She stated that Arthur [Williamson] ‘lost it’ and that he [redacted] and told her to be quiet," revealed the court documents.
A surprising detail came out during the confession revealing that Guertin advised the killer to use either a hammer or a knife to do the deed. She also said that she heard her 55-year-old friend attack Matthews. The news anchor was reportedly beaten to death with a hammer and stabbed. Williamson also stabbed Guertin in the neck and pummelled Hunter before locking him in a closet.
Following his overdose, Williamson woke up at a hospital and claimed that he did not remember anything prior to when he was hospitalized. "He stated that he knew [Guertin] and that she was a friend and that they were not dating. He stated that they just do drugs together," he stated. When asked about the murder, Williamson looked away and said, "I think I need an attorney."
Williamson was charged with one count of first-degree homicide, one count of felony murder, two counts of intent to murder, and three counts of unlawful imprisonment, as reported by Law&Crime. Williamson is currently on probation until June 5, 2023, according to the Michigan Department of Correction records.
