Jim Edmonds slams Meghan King for child support comment: 'It's no one's business'
Jim Edmonds has slammed his estranged wife Meghan King Edmonds after she accused the 49-year-old of not giving enough money for her and their children. The former ‘RHOC’ star had told an Instagram follower that the former baseball player’s money is not enough for her and their three children, daughter Aspen (3), and twin sons Hayes and Hart (2).
She wrote on Instagram on Monday, April 27, that she has a career: “Thank you very much! That child support is not buying me gold and baubles — it barely pays for groceries for my tribe!” But her statement did not go down well with Jim Edmonds as his representative, Steve Honig, said: “We’re not going to give numbers because it’s no one’s business, but if what Jim is giving to Meghan each month for child support doesn’t cover her groceries, she must be getting her eggs from Fabergé.”
Speaking with Page Six on Wednesday, April 29, Honig said: “Jim also pays every single bill for both of her homes, all the medical bills and practically every other expense related to the kids and the houses. Jim continually goes above and beyond what he is required to do. Meghan’s comments are an insult to all the single mothers who are genuinely struggling financially and working multiple jobs to make ends meet.”
“Someone also needs to tell Meghan that child support is not for gold and baubles,” he sarcastically added.
Edmonds and Meghan tied the knot in October 2014. They share three children, however, in October 2017 Edmonds filed for a divorce just a day after their fifth wedding anniversary. This came months after the former St Louis Cardinals player was caught in a text message scandal. He was exposed for sending inappropriate messages dated back when Meghan was pregnant with the former couples' twins. He was also allegedly romantically involved with children’s nanny.
“I engaged in an inappropriate conversation with this person. At no time was there any type of relationship or physical contact. Absolutely none. This is someone trying to profit from my name. I am aware she has done this to others in the past,” Jim said of the sexting scandal at the time.
Earlier, reports have claimed that the pair's custody battle over their children reached a contentious point after Meghan took the kids to Los Angeles without letting Edmonds know. “Meghan took the kids to Los Angeles in mid-March in violation of her custody agreement and without discussing it with or even telling Jim,” a source said.
However, Meghan denied the allegations as she said Edmonds knew about her travel plans. “Meghan had a pre-planned trip to take the children to California that had been approved by their Guardian ad Litem and their judge. Jim handed over custody to Meghan 2 days early so he could party in Nashville (the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak at the time) with his 22-year-old daughter and his new live-in girlfriend — so Meghan simply took the children to California during her custody which is completely legal per the terms of their temporary custody agreement,” a representative for Meghan said in a statement.
