In the history of American presidencies, roles of first ladies have always been really significant. From Dolley Madison in the 19th century and Nancy Reagan in the 20th century to Michelle Obama in the 21st, there has been no dearth of inspiring spouses that American presidents have had. And as the country inches towards a fiercely fought presidential election this year, the ability of the candidates’ spouses to make a good first lady has also come under the scanner.

Take the instance of Dr Jill Biden. The wife of Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden and former second lady was celebrated recently by netizens after she took on a protester who stormed the stage against her husband during a rally. Her actions have sort of gone viral after memes were posted, whether to laud her or to mock her.

The 68-year-old Jill was seen pushing away an anti-dairy activist who was protesting as Biden was delivering his victory speech in Los Angeles on Super Tuesday, March 3. The former vice president won as many as 10 states to go ahead of his main competitor Bernie Sanders who could win only four.

Jill’s actions saw the social media users comparing her to Wonder Woman and many other memes flooded the virtual space.

One of the users even said: “Now that’s a First Lady,” prompting funny reactions from others. Another photoshopped the educator’s face onto the picture of a feminist hero while others compared her to Warrior Princess Xena and female wrestlers from 'Glow', a popular Netflix series.

Other amused users shared GIFs and video footage of women ready to start a brawl. One person replied to a GIF showing a combative woman exclaiming: “OH, ITS ON”.

Another user shared a video of customers fighting inside a fast-food restaurant and gave the caption: “#JillBiden when those b**ches ran up on her man”.

One even made an indication that Biden might be aroused by his spouse’s protective instincts.

“Joe looking at Dr Jill a little differently tonight,” read the caption above a GIF showing a winking male.

It’s not the first time that Jill has come to the rescue of her husband at a political event. On the eve of the primary in New Hampshire on February 11, a man heckled Joe and recorded it on his cellphone. Jill kept the man away from her husband till he was removed. She also cracked a joke with the reporters later in the day, saying: “I’m a good Philly girl.”

Early in December last year, the couple was in the news for another bizarre reason. During the launch of a “no malarkey” tour in Iowa, which went to the caucuses on February 3, Joe was seen biting the finger of his spouse as she was speaking in his favor. The incident added to Biden's bizarre acts of sniffing babies and uncomfortably touching women of all ages on various stages.
