Jerry W Torres: Gabby Petito's neighbor offers $5K reward for tips about her killer
Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito’s death has affected many across the internet who have been poring over her posts, trying to locate obscure clues in an attempt to discover where she might be. When authorities found a body “consistent” with Petito over the weekend, it cast a dark cloud on everyone’s hopes of finding her. Now, the confirmation of her death, which has been ruled a homicide, has arrived. As people offer their condolences, one man has offered a reward to find the perpetrator of this crime.
Jerry W Torres shared on Facebook and Twitter a video, writing, “My daughter and I offer our deepest condolences to the family of Gabby Petito. We are offering a reward of $5000 for tips leading to an arrest. 1-800-CALL-FBI // 303-629-7171.” In the video, he said that as the single parent of a daughter, he empathized with Petito’s family, whom he referred to as his neighbor. He urged people to report to the FBI any information they could provide that would help in the capture of Petito’s fiance Brian Laundrie, who is a person of interest in the case.

The FBI has already requested for anyone with information about Laundrie’s role in Petito’s death to contact the agency. Laundrie initially refused to cooperate with cops and lawyered up. Later, his family reported that he too had gone missing after he told them he was planning to hike alone in the Carlton Reserve area, near North Port, Florida. Police have since combed through the massive swampy area but have met with no success so far.

Torres’ video was shared by more than 150 people on Facebook in less than 24 hours. On Twitter, it has more than 350 retweets at the time of writing this. His offer also received praises from people. “Thank You Jerry! You and Your Daughter are Patriots,” commented one person. “Nice of the neighbor!! There are still good people out here,” wrote another person.
Torres, as per his website, is a “prominent entrepreneur who founded and led a global business that became a billion-dollar enterprise in ten years; decorated service-disabled US Army Special Forces (Green Beret) combat veteran; nominee for the US National Infrastructure Security Council (NISC); author of university advanced degree enterprise engineering textbooks; humanitarian aid donor, leader, and volunteer; human rights advocate and teacher; philanthropist and environmentalist; and former volunteer Firefighter and Emergency Multi-Media First Aid Responder.”
In August 2020, Torres started a campaign called “Latin Americans for Trump,” under which he encouraged Latin American voters in the US to vote for former President Donald Trump. He said in one video that traditionally, Latin Americans have been Democrats but “we are coming to realize that our value systems are not aligned with the Democratic party.”
Torres, as per his website, earned numerous awards and recognitions while serving in the US Army. These included the Bronze Star Medal (VAARNG), the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Special Forces Tab, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal, among others.
