Jellisa Baxter: North Miami Beach mother confesses to killing 3-year-old daughter
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: North Miami Beach Police Department investigated a homicide involving the death of a young child and her mother. During the process, 24-year-old Jellisa Amoya Baxter was arrested by the police in connection with the murder and aggravated child abuse. As per the reports, Baxter called the 911 dispatcher to admit to the killing of her three-year-old daughter by "stabbing her several times", on Tuesday.
The arrest report mentions that Baxter was discovered in her living room when the police arrived at the apartment building close to Northeast 10th Avenue and 163rd Street before gathering outside. North Miami Beach PD Tweeted, "it is currently investigating a homicide which occurred at 1051 NE 163 St. The victim is a young child and the suspect (mother) is in custody. The scene is still active. No PIO will be responding."

Later, the Police department confirmed via an update that the three-year-old toddler was stabbed to death. "North Miami Beach PD can confirm that the child (3-year-old female victim) was stabbed by the mother. The 911 call came in via a female alleging to be the mother. The mother is in police custody. Nothing further at this time".

The report further mentions that when the officers arrived at the crime scene, they found the little victim's body lying on the ground with "many deep stab wounds" to her chest, neck, and face.
According to the report, officers located the murder weapon near the girl’s body. Police have not released the name of the victim and the arrest report doesn’t reveal a suspected motive. The officials pronounced the victim dead on the spot while Baxter was taken into custody without any resistance, the report in WSVN mentioned.
As the news was declared in the neighborhood, people were shaken and saddened as the victim was just a three-year-old toddler, the outlet noted. North Miami Beach PD said in a Tweet that, "it has confirmed the arrest of Jellisa Amoya Baxter for the murder of her 3-year-old daughter. She has been charged with Murder in the First Degree and Aggravated Child Abuse".

“It’s sad because she was a little girl,” Julia Gutierrez told the station. Another woman said she was scared for her four children. “You need to look for help,” said the woman indicating that the woman might have been struggling with mental stress or some other mental-health-related issues “You don’t do that to kids,” she added.
