Twitter is known for its bizarre trends. All it takes for one to be called out is a single post concerning anything under the sun. Today (June 19), American basketball coach Jeff Van Gundy started to trend on Twitter for a completely ridiculous reason which has sent internet users into a frenzy. It all began with a picture shared by a random Twitter user of his girlfriend, who seems to bear a strikingly close resemblance to Jeff. The picture soon went viral as users couldn't stop talking about the lady in the picture. However, the post also left Twitterati divided over the sort of responses the lady's picture has garnered.

Several users who found this trend to be rude expressed their disappointment in such virtual trends that could impact lives. One agitated user noted, "All really trended Jeff Van Gundy by roasting someone's girl. Twitter is ruthless lol." Another tweet read, "I love twitter but sometimes I can't stand y'all. Just saw why Jeff Van Gundy is trending. My 22 precious seconds is just wasted."

"This is why I don't trust y'all. Not what I was expecting from Jeff van Gundy trending," read another tweet. Meanwhile, many rushed to Twitter to check if Jeff was alright after seeing his name all over the platform. One wrote, "I thought something happened to Jeff Van Gundy and now I see why he trending a yoooo! Twitter a wild place."

"Jeff Van Gundy is trending because a guy posts a pic of his girl and the Twitterverse says she looks like JVG. Twitter is still the reigning heavyweight champion!" added another to the previous tweet explaining why he's trending, along with a collage of Jeff and the girl.

Meanwhile, some of the tweets were directed at the guy who shared his girlfriend’s picture. One tweet read, "If I showed off a girl and they said she look like Jeff Van Gundy.... mannnn dw about her, ima stay my ass inside forever," while another asked, "How can you even try to recover from everyone on Twitter saying your girlfriend look like Jeff Van Gundy?"
