Jeff Daniels dishes on Trump's links with Russia, Internet says he was perfectly cast in 'Dumb and Dumber'
Actor Jeff Daniels, who stars in the newly released two-episode series ‘The Comey Rule’ has ignited the debate on President Donald Trump’s presidency and links with Russia that the series explores. In an interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on September 28, the actor was asked about Trump’s (disproven) Russian links. To this, he replied that "It’s so obvious — where did he get all the money? All roads, as Speaker Pelosi said, all roads lead to Putin."
The actor also hinted at Russian president Vladimir Putin meddling in the US Presidential elections in 2016 with Putin "extending and reaching out to the cyber-space thing with America." Daniels further said though "Putin did not admit anything but he did get on the lifeboat in the Titanic." A user tweeted a part of the interviewer clip.

The actor stars in the Showtime Network series ‘The Comey Rule’ that got its season one released on September 27. The two-episode series had its second and final episode released on September 28. In the series, the Emmy Award winner stars as former FBI Director James Comey while actor Brendan Gleeson stars as Donald Trump.
The series is based on the story of powerful men in the political arena, whose strikingly different personalities, ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course. While the first episode of the two-episode series follows the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails and their impact on the election, the second episode is an account of the first months of the Trump presidency.
The second episode throws light on all the inflection points of the 2016 election and its aftermath, according to Rolling Stone. The site mentions that the second episode touches on "Russia’s hack of the DNC, Pizzagate, Attorney General Loretta Lynch's impromptu meeting with Bill Clinton on a tarmac in Phoenix, the discovery of the Clinton emails on a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner, the Steele dossier."
According to Decider, while the limited series was originally scheduled for a November release, Showtime announced that they would be getting 'The Comey Rule' before the 2020 election, shifting the premiere date to September 27. Now that the actor has spoken on Russian meddling in the 2016 Elections, people on the Internet have got a lot to talk about.
A user wrote in his appreciation and honesty, "That's the beauty of the Democracy everybody is entitled to have an opinion". Another user praised Daniels, "Jeff Daniels is also famous for this incredibly truthful performance." However, a user compared him to his role as a dumb man that he played in the famous comedy film ‘Dumb and Dumber’.
He alluded to him as dumb after his recent comments on Russian meddling. "He was perfectly cast in 'Dumb and Dumber'." Another wrote, "Interesting that MAGA's only criticism of Jeff Daniels is 'Dumb and Dumber', one of the best movies ever made. Must have been too cerebral for them."
Some users felt actors are not trustable as they are paid for such show-ups. "Oh Jeff Daniels. Remember, actors should pontificate about all matters because they are paid to be pretenders and fakers. If you wish to know about epidemiology, neurosciences or physics, ask Jeff. He knows because he is an actor."
