Jealous husband stabs wife to death in New York salon and continued to embrace her lifeless body until the cops came
QUEENS, NEW YORK CITY: A 39-year-old man from Queens allegedly stabbed his wife to death at a salon where she worked and then laid down with her embracing her lifeless body until he was detailed by policemen, according to reports.
The woman, identified as 35-year-old Iris Rodriguez, was reportedly working inside the Tu S’tilo Salon and Spa on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights, Queens, at around 7 pm on Wednesday when her husband barged in and brutally attacked her with a knife, according to police. Rodriguez was stabbed multiple times in her chest as her co-worker looked on with shock and horror, authorities told the New York Daily News. The suspect was later identified as 39-year-old William Rivas. He was charged Thursday with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Footage from the site of the incident was obtained by the outlet, which shows the assailant lying on top of her, whispering to her and crying as onlookers screamed in the background. The clip also shows police arrive at the scene and the officers can be heard saying: "Move out of the way, move out of the way. Anyone who saw anything, stay here." While a woman can be heard saying: "Dios mio!" as officers try to remove him from on top of Rodriquez's body.
Reports state that Rodriguez and her husband were separated after four years of marriage in January. A friend of Rodriguez, Rosa, told the outlet that Rivas became jealous when he saw her talking to other men. Rosa added that he had also begun to call her after they separated. "She said that he was aggressive, and she was a little scared, but never enough to think this [would happen]," the friend revealed. "She said he wanted her to live with him but she said she didn’t want to be with him. She said she didn’t want him to know where she lived. Such a good person she was. A really good mother. She loved her children. She would do everything for them."
Rodriguez has left behind two sons, one is eight-years-old and the other is just a toddler.
Rodriquez was rushed to the Elmhurst General Hospital where she eventually succumbed to the stab wounds. She reportedly worked on hair and make-up at the salon and her friend described her as a "magnificent" person.
