Man fatally shoots wife who cheated on him with best friend even as his 5-year-old twins begged him to stop
A Florida man allegedly shot his wife and her parents on New Year's Day after he found an "intimate" video of his wife and his best friend together. The attacker has now been arrested on attempted murder charges, Daily Mail reports.
The incident took place shortly before 5 pm at a family residence in Melbourne, Florida, police said. Mona Stillwell and her parents were allegedly shot by her husband William Brian Stillwell, 39, in the legs and hips after he found a cell phone video that apparently showed his wife cheating on him with one of his closest friends.
The three victims were immediately rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. However, doctors have said they will survive.
At the time of the shooting, the couple's two young children were inside the home. Fortunately, they were not injured during the ordeal. According to WESH 2, the five-year-old twins were heard begging their father not to shoot their mother, as heard in a 911 call from the residence. In the recording, the mother is heard telling one of her children to "get out and run, baby, run!"
Lt. Shawn Eising of the Melbourne Police Department said in a statement that the children "were able to escape the home and run to a neighbor who was able to provide them security and some level of comfort."
During the incident, the Stillwell family's three dogs escaped the home fearing the shooter. While two of them have been retrieved, one is still missing. Stillwell was taken into custody and booked Tuesday on charges of felony attempted murder, armed burglary, child abuse and concealing a firearm.
After the shooting, Mona Stillwell changed her Facebook profile photo on Tuesday from one with her husband to another featuring just her and her twins.
