Jay Jay Phillips, who was best known for his appearances in ‘America’s Got Talent’, died during Thanksgiving week. He was 30. The reality show participant was surrounded by his friends and family but his health deteriorated and took a bad turn just a day before the holiday. The unfortunate news of his demise was shared by his family. Jay Jay Phillips was battling Covid prior to his death.
 
Seph Lawless, a close friend of Phillips, gave insights on his untimely death to The Wrap, saying that the musician was battling the deadly virus over Thanksgiving. He added that his girlfriend had found him unresponsive "in the fetal position" in bed. Phillips, who was a heavy metal lover, first appeared in ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 4 in 2009 but got evicted in the early rounds. He again made an appearance on the show in Season 12 in 2017 but got eliminated in the quarterfinals.

How did Jay Jay Phillips die?

The family of Jay Jay Phillips revealed the cause of death to TMZ saying that he died from Covid-19. His family had reportedly asked him to visit the hospital but he denied it saying that all he needed was more sleep. That was the last time his family heard from him. One of the family members spilled the beans that Philips was not vaccinated but was planning to get jabbed soon.
 
Jay Jay Phillips’ band called Mettal Maffia had too shared the news a few days ago with the help of an Instagram post.  While sharing a picture of the rocker, they wrote, “It is with great sadness we inform you all of the loss of our bandmate/brother/and friend @jayjayrocks. It still doesn’t feel real and we would give anything to change it.” They added, “Please respect the family, as well as our wishes as we take our time to grieve and process this detrimental loss. We miss you brother, every second of every minute, of every day. Thank you for teaching us all to laugh a little more. Rock in Paradise.”  Jay Jay Phillips’s last Instagram post revealed that he was planning to make more music with his band in the coming months.

‘That’s so sad, very young!’

Social media users took to Twitter to speak about Philips’ death. While a few users felt bad others got pissed off over him not getting vaccinated. “That’s so sad, very young!”, said one user as another posted, “Sending prayers to his family.” One user said, “Jay Jay had talent. Gone to soon. Seemed like a good guy. RIP.”  One stated, “This is sad but he didn’t treat it at all.”
 
The next one tweeted, “Very sad when people as young as 30 years of age decide not to take life seriously. R.I.P.” Whereas, one said, “That's what happens.  I would NEVER bet a disease that has killed millions in a year and a half would not be dangerous enough to kill me.”  Another user got furious and posted, “For f**ks sake if you’re not gonna get vaccinated at least go to the hospital when you get sick. I take that back, save the ICU bed for someone else.”  One individual asserted, “I stopped feeling bad after the "he wasn't vaccinated" quote.” And, one concluded, “Not vaccinated. Preventable death. So tragic and selfish.”
