There aren't too many details out about Jason Reitman's planned 'Ghostbusters' threequel however the movie's title may have finally been revealed. The film has so far been referred to by its working title 'Ghostbusters 2020' (shortened as 'GB20'). According to the Italian movie site BadTaste. It, the film's official title will be 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife'.

According to Comicbook, the title is yet to be officially confirmed by Sony Pictures or any of the people associated with the project but we should hopefully be getting some confirmation soon enough. The upcoming movie is a sequel to Ivan Reitman’s classic 'Ghostbusters' and its 1989 sequel 'Ghostbusters II'.

'GB20' will not be in any way connected to Paul Feig’s 2016 female-led reboot of the series, which got a lot of hate from the franchise's fanbase. Despite how terribly that project was received, fans are hopeful that 'Ghostbusters 2020' will be a worthy successor to the cult-classic originals.

The upcoming film will be returning to the continuity established in the1984 film and will maintain ties to the original group of paranormal investigators. 'GB20' will be focusing on a small-town family with some very mysterious connections to the characters from the first movie and we'll be seeing a lot of familiar and beloved faces returning to the big screen.

In fact, Reitman had previously revealed that the upcoming threequel will be using some unused footage that was originally meant to go into the first movie. All things considered, it looks like 'Ghostbusters 2020' is going to be both a tribute and a conclusion for the franchise as a whole.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson will be back as Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, and Winston Zeddemore with Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett and Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz. Other cast members for the upcoming movie include Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, Celeste O'Connor, Oliver Cooper, and Bokeem Woodbine as Sheriff Domingo.

'Ghostbusters 2020', whatever its actual title might be, it is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 10, 2020.
