Jamie Dornan wants fans to forget him as Christian Grey and remember him for his 'dad jokes'
Jamie Dornan is back on social media after making people wait for four years to see him active. However, this time, his social media reflects that he might want to take a step back from his image as Christian Grey.
Dornan's role as Mr Grey painted him in a picture like never before. His dominating character had everyone rushing to the theater to watch the film. However, after that role, Dornan found it hard to be recognized for anything else. His role fixated him into a character that people loved but he found hard to get away from.
His role had many female fans gushing over him to the extent that his wife, Amelia Warner, was getting threats from his female fans. They were finding it hard to believe that the actor who played their beloved character could be married to anyone else. Dornan had admitted that his wife had not seen the movie.
He confessed in an interview that he thought his wife loved him more as he is more than just the character itself. He hinted that it would be better if his wife did not see the movie or his role as Mr Grey. In another interview, Dornan had made it clear that he would not be interested in taking a role like Mr Grey ever again.
"To speak for myself, and I'll speak for Dakota as well, it's another job on another set. I probably won't ever take a job with this much attention and scrutiny and public opinion directed at it again. And that's fine! From a practical point of view, you just move on to the next and keep your head down. But listen, it's given us so much. The work that I've been doing has been a million miles from that, and not even by choice. You just keep plugging away, doing good work, and trying to better yourself," he said.
His recent return to social media hinted that he is done being associated with his character. His Instagram bio description also mentions, "dad jokes", making people believe that he is someone who wants to be known as a family man rather than for a character that he played. Meanwhile, his posts are also limited.
The first image shows him covered in blue paint with a caption, "Self-isolation made me do it". While some fans joked that it was Mr Blue now, it might be a subtle hint about him moving away from his character Mr Grey.
His second picture, on the other hand, is a post where he is giving his fans hope that things will get better as people struggle to control the growing numbers of coronavirus cases. While Dornan might have made a return to his social media platform, his posts and bio make us believe that it is time to say goodbye to Mr Grey.
