It's not easy being a celebrity, as you're always at the receiving end of vitriolic hate and online trolling. Recently, filmmaker James Gunn took to Twitter and shared a message he received from a troll, which was filled with profanities and abuse. He shared the same message on his Instagram story.

Ther user had accused him of racism and trying to be political. The troll wrote, "Hey, I just want to say your movies are fucking trash and feminism shit doesn't work with racism shit, your movie will flopp lmao stop being f**king feminist and not racist make better movies with good quality this is just a movie we don't want some political shit and racism message message we don't give a fuck, we just want to watch a dc great movies like watchmen and V for Vendetta so stop color changes and make them female or white guy to black, stop racism you are fighting racism with racism (sic)." At the end of this message, the user wrote, "This is just advice."

Gunn seemed amused at this and along with a screenshot of this message, he wrote, "Oh it's just advice? Thanks!"

Fans rushed to his defense and couldn't help laughing at the fact that the troll had called 'Watchmen' and 'V For Vendetta' apolitical, or even the 'Batman' films for that matter. "Ah yes. Batman V Superman, the movie about a billionaire using faked evidence and rhetoric to whip up societal anger at an undocumented immigrant (to the point where another billionare is willing to kill him) to disguise and justify his own power grabs, and who is ultimately brought down by a female journalist he dismissed as 'idiotic'. Truly this is the gold standard of a-political movies."

"This person thinks Watchmen isn't political?" asked a fan.

"Imagine thinking Batman Vs. Superman, a movie where Lex Luthor literally detonates a bomb in the US Capitol, isn’t political," tweeted another.

"We don't want politics!" *Proceeds to mention some of the most political DC movies ever made* Logic is great," wrote anoter fan.

"Ah yes, those famously unpolitical works... Watchmen and V For Vendetta," tweeted a fan.

David Hayter, director of 'Watchmen', sarcastically wrote, "One of the hardest parts about writing the #WATCHMEN film was stripping out all the politics."

'IT' producer, Seth Grahame-Smith wrote, "Lots of people pointing out the obvious politics of V and Watchmen -- but BVS is the REAL treatise on racism. Two men. Two different races. Society tells them to fight. And they do... until they discover that, deep down, both of their mothers are named Martha."

Well, fans are still having a laugh at the troll's expense.

James Gunn's next film, 'Suicide Squad', will come out on August 6, 2021.
