Denise Fergus, the mother of brutally murdered toddler James Bulger, is completely furious that a short film about her two-year-old child's murder was nominated for an Academy Award. 'Detainment', a short film that is written and directed by Irish filmmaker Vincent Lambe, was nominated for the 91st Academy Awards in the category of "Best Live Action Short".
The film is reportedly based on the transcripts from the police interviews of the two child suspects — Jon Venables and Robert Thompson — following the murder.
