What are the charges against Germany?

In a news release, officials said, "The suspect allegedly grabbed the child and pulled them toward an apartment building," and added, "Several students who were standing at the bus stop attempted to intervene, and the victim was able to break free. When the school bus arrived, all the students boarded the bus, and the incident was reported to school staff."

Before the attempted kidnapping incident was reported to school staff, the school bus arrived at the stop and students boarded the bus. Around 30 minutes later after the incident was reported, a community engagement officer responded to the school where the incident took place. After that, Germany was taken into custody at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and has been charged with second-degree assault and attempted kidnapping, according to authorities.

'He also grabbed the glass'

A student of the school said that Germany apparently had a broken beer bottle with him. The student said, "The man tried to grab the kid," and added, "He also grabbed the glass to convince the kid to come with him. Then he tried to grab him. But then some kids helped him, and the bus driver helped him get on the bus. And then when he got on the bus, he ran away."

A neighbor stated that Germany did the same thing last week at the bus stop and another person said that the suspect threatened people, prior to the incident, according to NBC News affiliate WRC-TV. One of the residents told the media outlet, "How are they supposed to grow up here if they know they’ve got to look over their shoulder every five seconds", while another said, "I’m glad that he got caught, and it’s very brave children that helped their classmate."
