Ivanka says 'violence unacceptable' after Trump told rally 'you'll never take back our country with weakness'
Ivanka Trump tweeted on Wednesday, January 6, “No. Peaceful protest is patriotic. Violence is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms.” President Donald Trump had earlier tweeted, “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

They were, of course, talking after violent pro-Trump protesters stormed the Capitol building, clashed with cops, and vandalized the place. Following this, the House floor was evacuated by police. As per reports, a woman is in critical condition after being shot in the chest on the Capitol grounds. Multiple officers have also been reportedly injured with at least one transported to the hospital. As per CNN, an armed standoff was taking place at the House front door as of 3 pm ET, and police officers had their guns drawn. A Trump supporter was pictured standing at the Senate dais.
But Trump and his daughter Ivanka talking about peaceful protests seem hypocritical when as per reports, it was Trump who had incited this violent coup. Democratic US Representative Ted Deutch tweeted: "This is a violent insurrection. An attempted coup by Trump supporters at his encouragement. They’re attacking the building that represents our democracy and threatening those who work in it. History will remember this dark day as a seditious attack by Americans against America."

They’re attacking the building that represents our democracy and threatening those who work in it.
History will remember this dark day as a seditious attack by Americans against America.
As per the Palm Beach Post, on Wednesday afternoon, Trump said at a rally in Washington DC, "And after this, we're going to walk down there, and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down ... to the Capitol and we are going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women. And we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated."
As per the New York Post, Trump said that the 2020 presidential election was rigged against him, and he vowed not to give in even as Inauguration Day is just two weeks away. "We will never concede,” Trump told the cheering crowd. “You don’t concede when there’s theft. This year, they rigged an election. They rigged it like they’ve never rigged an election before.”
As per another report, he also said, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard… Today we will see whether Republicans stand strong for the integrity of our elections, whether or not they stand strong for our country.”
President-elect Joe Biden said that the Trump supporters’ breach of the Capitol building was “an assault on the rule of law like few times we’ve ever seen it” and called on Trump to immediately denounce the mob that had overrun the building, vandalized offices and forced lawmakers to evacuate.
“At this hour, our democracy’s under an unprecedented assault, unlike anything we’ve seen in modern times,” Biden said at a news conference in Delaware. “An assault on the citadel of liberty, the Capitol itself.”
