'It's Okay to Not be Okay' Episode 7 was loved by fans for its slowly brewing romance between lead characters Kang-tae (Kim soo-hyun) and Mun-yeong (Seo Ye-ji). The show is centered on mental health and both the lead characters have baggage that they have to work through. While many shows make the lead couple interdependent and face healing together instead of concentrating on the self-healing, this show spotlights the importance of independent healing instead of putting faith in love for each other to heal wounds.

One fan observed on Reddit, regarding Mun-yeong cutting her hair: "One of my biggest fears about this show is that they will make their healing and recovery dependent on each other to push the love story. I am so glad to be proven wrong every week. Even the hair cutting thing, the fact that she made the first cut and he was just there to even things out, in the end, was so symbolic for me of how this relationship is developing as they as individuals are developing and healing. Gosh I love this show."

A viewer agreed and commented, "Couldn’t agree more. I love how they are taking time with the romance aspect. It comes out more realistic. It would spoil everything for me if their romance is central reason as to why they are being healed."

Another fan wrote, "Ko Mun Yeong in short hair. Jesus. And I thought she couldn't get any prettier. My heart swells up every time MY (Mun-yeong) and KT (Kang-tae) talk lovingly. I can't possibly take this anymore. These two make me feel like a teenager all over again. Gah."

There were also observations regarding how the relationship balances toxicity and understanding. This one fan wrote, "All the yes on this. There’s a fine line between a toxic relationship and a relationship where you mutually understand and help each other. This drama balances that line beautifully. There were a few dicey moments, and I imagine there will be more, but a good relationship is one built on mutual understanding and trust, and our main leads are genuinely getting there. A huge bravo to the writers."

Another viewer also said, "I LOVED the shift in dynamics between Ko Mun Yeong and Kang Tae. He’s finally starting to understand why she acts like she does, and in the process is discovering his own pain which he tried to ignore for so long. I love this show".

'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' originally airs on tvN on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 pm KST in South Korea and can be streamed on Netflix.
