Israeli scientists claim cure for cancer will be developed by next year, even as critics say 'universal cure' is 'unlikely'
Israeli scientists have claimed that they will be aiming to develop a cure for cancer within the next year although world leaders in cancer care and treatment believe and say that is a highly unlikely prospect.
Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies Ltd, based in Israel, claims that they are using a web of small protein fragments known as peptides which wrap around cancer cells just like an octopus and attack tumors from many different angles, reaching areas where other treatment molecules are too big to get to. The peptides are reportedly so delicate that they can fly under the immune system's radar preventing any counter attacks from the tumor and also side effects such as nausea and 'chemo brain'.
However, critics say that even though the method seems promising, the claims of "a cure" are overstated. Given that the only study has been performed on mice, no one has seen the results of that study. Even the inventors share that human trials will take several years to start and then complete. It is also very unlikely that scientists will be able to come up with one singular cure for all cancers which greatly vary.
