LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of the 'Cobra Kai' series and 'The Karate Kid' franchise have been eagerly speculating about potential connections between the upcoming 'Karate Kid' movie and the beloved Netflix series. However, recent updates from the showrunners have delivered some disappointing news.

Despite high hopes that the events of 'Cobra Kai' Season 6 would set the stage for the new 'Karate Kid' sequel, which is slated for release in 2025 and will follow Daniel LaRusso as he mentors a new student, it appears that a highly anticipated crossover cameo won't happen after all.

This means that fans eagerly awaiting Jackie Chan's return as Mr. Han, the wise and skilled martial arts mentor from the 2010 'Karate Kid' remake, will have to wait longer.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating a crossover between 'Cobra Kai' and the upcoming 'Karate Kid' movie, especially with Jackie Chan's return as Mr. Han from the 2010 reboot.

In the new movie, Mr Han and Daniel LaRusso will team up to train a new karate kid, played by Ben Wang. Many hoped this crossover would mean a Chan cameo in 'Cobra Kai' Season 6 to set up the film.

However, the showrunners have clarified that this won't happen. They explained that they aren't involved in the new movie, which is a separate Sony project.

While Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso will appear in the film, the events of 'Cobra Kai' Season 6 won't lead into it. The movie exists in its own universe with its characters and storylines.

Although some might think the showrunners are trying to surprise fans, it's more likely that the two stories will remain separate. The 2010 'Karate Kid' movie has always been seen as distinct from the 'Cobra Kai' series, and this seems to remain the case despite the upcoming crossover film.

Will there be other cameos in 'Cobra Kai' Season 6?

'Cobra Kai' has already brought back many characters from 'The Karate Kid' movies over its five seasons. Along with mainstays Johnny and Daniel, we've seen the return of John Kreese, Chozen Toguchi, Mike Barnes, Terry Silver, Ali Mills, Kumiko, and more.

However, there aren't many major characters left to bring back. Jackie Chan's Mr Han and Hilary Swank's Julie Pierce are among the few who haven't appeared yet.

With recent updates ruling out Jackie Chan's cameo in Season 6, fans might be disappointed by the remaining options for surprise appearances. The choices are now limited to minor characters, like Mike Barnes's sidekick Dennis or Chozen's friend from Japan, Toshio.

While the show's writers could make these characters interesting, they don't have the nostalgic impact that fans crave. Despite the showrunners teasing exciting cameos, the absence of Jackie Chan significantly lowers the excitement for potential returns.

This means 'Cobra Kai' fans might not get the big surprises they're hoping for in Season 6.
