'I’m crazy': Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott reveals 11-hour sedation for elaborate leg tattoo
DALLAS, TEXAS: Dak Prescott, the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys got a huge tattoo on his leg in March leaving people speechless.
It has now been revealed it took about 12 hours, and almost the entire time, Prescott had to remain sedated, Star-Telegram reported.
What is Dak Prescott's tattoo about?
The tattoo, which was done by Andres Ortega of Onder ink, is a tribute to Prescott’s family, idols and hometowns.
It features images and words that represent his personal and professional journey, such as his brother who died by suicide.
It has his mother who died of cancer, and his role models Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali and Kobe Bryant.
It also has references to Dallas, where he plays, and Haughton, Louisiana, where he grew up.
How did Jerry Jones react to this?
Even as the coach Mike McCarthy was informed, Prescott’s tattoo stunned owner Jerry Jones, who was unaware of the tattoo until a Star-Telegram reporter brought it up.
Jones joked that he didn’t know tattoos required sedation and that it explained why he didn’t have any.
“I certainly didn’t know he was under for 10 hours,” Jones told the outlet. “Just so you’re clear, I had no idea about tattoos.
"I better get up to date on it. I had no idea that required that kind of sedation of any tattoo. It further explains to me why I don’t have a tattoo.”
How did Mike McCarthy find out about Dak Prescott's Tatoo?
It was a day after the procedure when McCarthy saw Prescott's swollen leg in the locker room. ”I was like ‘whoa, what the ... happen to your leg."
McCarthy recalled. “So he shows it to me. I’m like ‘Jesus Christ, how long did that take? You’ve been doing it all week.
"He said, no, I did it all at one time’. He showed me a video of it and like ‘Oh, my God’.”
Was Dak Prescott going to hide his huge Tatoo from his team, coaches and owner?
He was, but McCarthy catching him with a swollen leg blew the plan.
“I wasn’t going to tell them but I let them know after. When I saw Mike the next day and my leg was big, he was ‘what (happened to you)."
“People are gonna think it’s crazy and it is crazy,” Prescott told the outlet. “I get that. But I’m crazy. That’s my point I am. I know I am. I’m not afraid of nothing.”
“I did all this in one sitting,” Prescott said. “10 plus one day and the next day I went for a like two more hours.
"They came over on a Friday, ran over all the ideas, worked on them and printed them and came back the next day and laid them on my leg.”
