Is Andrea Meza married? Rumors of Miss Universe losing her crown rise after pic of her in wedding dress shared
Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was crowned Miss Universe on May 16. This led to worldwide popularity and with it came followers who dug deep into the model's Instagram account, and that's when they found a picture of her and a man in a suit atop a cliff. The tux that he had worn, along with her beautiful wedding dress and a veil, led followers to believe that she had indeed broken the rules of the Miss Universe pageant. The caption read "3-09-19" followed by an engagement ring emoticon.
Since being married is against the rules of the pageant, many believed they had unearthed a huge scandal and this also resulted in rumors of Meza being sacked, and having to return her Miss Universe title.

Is Andrea Meza married?
However, this is far from the truth, claimed Meza in an interview with Insider. So Meza is not married. She said that she was the brand ambassador for Chihuahua, in Mexico, which is where she resides. She explained that it was her job to shine a spotlight on some of the city's tourist attractions. The tourism office believed that an interesting way to publicize Copper Canyon, a series of canyons in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, would be to organize a fake wedding shoot there. That is how Meza ended up posing in a wedding dress.
Speaking of the claims online, Meza said, "It's funny because the guy that is with me, he's the youngest brother of one of my best friends. He's 21. He's just a kid. And it's funny because everyone is taking it very seriously," and added, "Back then, I was not in any pageant. I just posted the picture making fun of the situation. We thought it was funny to prank our friends by only writing the date on the caption."
A spokesperson for Miss Universe said the organization had been flooded with messages about the picture.
The spokesperson said, "People often spread rumors about the winner after she is crowned, but this is definitely one of the crazier ones I have heard." Meza, on the other hand, added, "People like to search on our pasts and try to find something to create scandal. It happened when I won the state contests. It happened when I won the nationals, and I know it's going to keep happening."
The 26-year-old software engineer had questioned beauty standards and about this, she had said, "When I was in high school I had a really rough time. I was being bullied. I was a little chubby and I didn't feel pretty at all. But it wasn't just what people said about me, but what I was telling myself. I would say, 'Oh, you're not as pretty as the other girls, you're not worth it.' And that conversation I was having with myself was only bringing me down."
