NY Jets coach Robert Saleh worried over quarterback Aaron Rodgers' suspected Achilles tendon injury

Despite Aaron Rodgers' serious injury, the New York Jets managed to win the game

EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY: New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed concern over Aaron Rodgers' suspected Achilles tendon injury during the game against the Buffalo Bills on September 11. 

The incident occurred four plays into Rodgers' debut for the Jets when Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd sacked him for a 10-yard loss. 

What happened to Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers sustained the injury on his first drive with his new team, the Jets. Although he initially stood up, he soon sat back on the turf, prompting trainers to rush out to check on him.

Rdogers was escorted to the medical tent where he was examined before he was taken in a cart to the sidelines from where he hobbled into the locker room.  

While X-rays on Rodgers' left ankle yielded negative results, reports indicated that the Achilles tendon was the focus of concern.

Is Aaron Rodgers' injury serious?

As per NFL, Saleh said, "It's not good. An MRI is probably going to confirm what we think has happened, so prayers tonight. But it's not good."

The Jets initially doubted his return to be questionable but later downgraded him to out for the rest of the game during the second quarter.

The 39-year-old quarterback was seen wearing a medical boot on his left foot upon while returning to the locker room, indicating the seriousness of the injury.

Fans and followers took to X to express their concern. 

One user blamed the turf saying, “And they say turf doesn’t matter. It clearly gave out." Another wrote, "Jets Fans can't catch a Damn break...... I'm a Cardinals fan, so I'm used to disappointment all the time!"

A fan wrote, "I hope he gets better." Another commented, "That's bad news .. hopefully, that's not too serious!"

How did the Jets win the match against Buffalo Bills?

According to ESPN, Rodgers' injury, the Jets ultimately secured a dramatic victory over the Bills with a final score of 22-16 in overtime. 

The Jets achieved this by capitalizing on turnovers from Bills quarterback Josh Allen, forcing four in total. 

Additionally, a pivotal 65-yard punt return from Xavier Gipson played a crucial role in sealing the win for the Jets in what turned out to be a memorable and hard-fought game.

The Jets staged an impressive comeback from a 10-3 gap to secure a highly emotional victory. 

However, the joy of the win is likely to be short-lived as the Jets face the sobering reality that they may be without Rodgers for an extended period due to his injury.
