Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's daughter Ireland Baldwin was accused of looting by the police during the California wildfires. The incident occurred when the model returned to her Malibu home to collect a few of her belongings. People reports that the 23-year-old model detailed her encounter on social media, addressing her interaction with a police officer who did not allow her to access her home. She tweeted, “Yesterday I spent all day long trying to get back to my place in Malibu to gather a couple of my things before the winds were expected to pick back up. " She continued, “An officer at a back way entrance to one of the main canyons that take you over to Malibu stopped us and refused to let us in because I don’t have my Malibu address on my ID."

Speaking about the officers threatening her, she tweeted, “Not only was he a d—, but he had 0 compassion and he literally accused us of being looters and threatened us that we were going to be arrested if we kept giving him trouble." People responded to her on Twitter defending the police insisting that they were only doing their job. One response to her tweet read, "I hope you understand that he was doing his job, since there are people who take advantage of these circumstances to steal from others. Hard to believe someone when your ID doesn’t say you live there. Nothing against you I’m sure."

Similar responses of this nature led to Ireland tweeting that she did, in fact, understand that the police were doing their job but she was upset over their lack of compassion. Another tweet of hers in the same series said, “I understand that he was doing his job, but in times like this when people are losing loved ones and losing their homes, the least you can do is show compassion and be as kind as you can even if you can’t help them."

Alec Baldwin's oldest daughter went on to also tell fans that her mother Kim Basinger had lost her home to the Woolsey fires. Another tweet of hers said, “So many friends and friends and family of friends are losing everything they own in these fires,” she shared. “My mom and her partner lost their Malibu home in #Woolseyfire and thankfully, they are both safe.”

Ireland also took the opportunity to call out Trump for his insensitive comments about the fire, where he blamed the entire incident on poor forest management by California. He also threatened to withdraw federal funding. Ireland wrote a strongly worded response to his tweet saying, "a true leader would show compassion & light in a time of darkness. You are so far from ever knowing what it’s like to be a true leader. To be a man. You are a sad little boy who got abused so badly as a child that you’ll have the rest of us paying for it forever."
