NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News anchor Sean Hannity announced that actor Sean Penn would be returning on ‘Hannity.’

Penn had previously appeared on the show in 2022, when the actor had told Hannity, “There’s a lot of reasons I don’t trust you,” as reported by The Independent.

Hannity also spoke to Penn earlier last week, and the most recent interview on September 23, served as the second part of that interview, as explained by Hannity.

After Hannity’s announcement about the same on X, both Penn and Hannity faced backlash on the platform, but the focus remained on Penn.

Sean Penn appears on ‘Hannity’

Fox News anchor Sean Hannity wrote on X, “Actor Sean Penn is back on 'Hannity' TONIGHT with more on the war in Ukraine. Tune in at 9 pm ET or set your DVR!”

Penn most recently directed the documentary ‘Superpower,’ which was about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and how the small country fights back and was co-directed by Aaron Kaufman.

“Penn conducted intimate interviews with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and others,” The Economic Times reports.

Penn talked more about the war in Ukraine on ‘Hannity.’ Hannity asked Penn, “If Europe won’t step up and protect their own continent, doesn’t that infuriate you? That infuriates me.”

Penn responded, “It does, and if we’re all at the beach and if somebody’s kid is drowning and nobody else is going in, we still gotta go get them.”

Sean Penn slammed for his appearance on Fox News

In response to Fox News anchor Sean Hannity’s announcement of Sean Penn’s arrival on ‘Hannity,’ the internet was quick to express its disappointment.

One person wrote, “Disgusting, both of you,” and another said, “Oof fox has gone downhill real fast.”

“Imma pass on that one. I can think of a lot of people I'd like for Hannity to chat with. Sean Penn isn't anywhere on that list,” wrote one user.

Another X user said, “What are we doing here Hannity, This is not good.”

One user wrote, “That's a hard NO,” as others also continued to pass up on this interview between Hannity and Penn. One viewer simply wrote, “Hard pass!”
