Internet has theories on Alex Murdaugh calling Paul's friend Rogan Gibson 4 times for checking in on him
COLLETON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA: The chilling last texts of Paul Murdaugh have been revealed after his father, Alex, reportedly shot him and his mother, Maggie, at their million-dollar house. The 22-year-old was messaging his friend Rogan Gibson about a minute before Alex Murdaugh, a disgraced South Carolina lawyer, allegedly shot him.
Paul and Gibson were messaging after a four-minute phone conversation over a problem with Gibson's dog's tail, which was left at the kennel where Paul and Maggie were later shot to death on the Murdaugh family's farm in South Carolina.

'Gibson never heard from Paul or Maggie again'
Agent Croft testified that he went to speak to Rogan Gibson the morning after the killings on June 8, at around 5 am after responding to the crime scene, reported The Independent. He described in court the communications Paul, Maggie and Alex Murdaugh had with Gibson the night of the shootings.
"See if you can get a good picture of it. Marion wants to send it to a girl we know that’s a vet. Get him to sit and stay. He shouldn’t move around too much, Rogan Gibson sent an SMS on June 7, 2021, at about 8.49 pm. According to mobile phone activity described by SLED special agent Jeff Croft on Monday, after Gibson didn't hear back from the first text, the friend sent a second one. "Yo," Gibson wrote at 9.58 pm before making five unsuccessful calls to Paul's phone. Gibson texted Paul's mother, Maggie Murdaugh, 52, after waiting over an hour and still receiving no response from his pal. "Tell Paul to call me," Gibson sent a message at 9.34 pm. Gibson, however, never heard from Paul or Maggie again because, according to the prosecution, Alex had already reportedly shot and killed his wife and son before turning off their mobiles, as per The Sun. Shortly after, the cell records show that between 10.21 and 10.30 pm., Murdaugh tried to phone Gibson four times, but the two never exchanged words.
On July 14, 2022, Murdaugh was arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder in connection with the alleged killings of Paul and Maggie at their South Carolina residence. He could be sentenced to 30 years to life in prison if found guilty of the murder accusations brought against him.
Redditors and the internet have their own theory on the whole sequence of events
Meanwhile, the internet is wondering about the discredited South Carolina lawyer who called Gibson four times to check on his son. A user commented on Reddit, "Yes, AND I thought Alex might have been worried that with Paul not responding, Rogan might be on the way over... that was my gut- but not quite sure why? Everything with this guy is weird. For all I know he was gonna say, "Hey Rogan? Paul is dead, but don't worry- I'll have my brother bring your dog back to you tomorrow. Have a good night." Another user wrote, "But if Alex didn’t look at any phones cause he’s innocent and doesn’t say he looked at the details of the phones, How does he know there were incessant calls? I don’t recall, did he call Alex as well? How many times?
"Rogan's rapid calling could be him panicking, worried about his friend," wrote one user. Another user remarked, "I thought perhaps he was going to let Rogan know that Paul couldn’t call him back because he was dead and was going to ask him what was so urgent (as an alibi)." One user questioned, "Why would Alex call Rogan about a dog, about anything, when his wife and son had “just” been murdered?" "Even if he did call Rogan (he could argue he was in shock and that’s the first person he thought of bc he saw it on Paul’s phone), why continue calling after no answer?" another user remarked. Another user said, "How does Alex know that Rogan is the last person that Paul talked to if he hadn't seen him since before his "nap"?"
