LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, known for his bold political stances and occasional forays into the spotlight, once again drew attention during the Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, October 8.

However, this time, the focus wasn't on his policy positions but on his now-trademark smile, which has become a subject of scrutiny and amusement.

History of Ron DeSantis' awkward smiles

DeSantis first caught the public's eye during the summer's initial debate with his awkward attempt at flashing a smile.

The moment quickly went viral, generating memes and social media chatter. Not one to fade into the background, DeSantis revisited the spotlight recently when a TV interview captured an unusual flash of the tongue during his smile, sparking yet another round of online discussion.

In a recent segment, Seth Meyers, host of 'Late Night with Seth Meyers,' took a humorous jab at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during the third GOP debate.

The focus of Meyers' wit was DeSantis' apparent efforts to enhance his smile.

The comedian playfully remarked that the governor now sports a Fire Marshall Bill face, referencing the iconic character from the sketch comedy show 'In Living Color.'

Seth Meyers' observations

During the segment in question, Meyers wasted no time in addressing the noticeable change in Governor DeSantis' smile.

With his signature wit, Meyers quipped, "Did you guys see Ron DeSantis at the GOP debate? It looks like he tried to improve his smile, but now he's got that Fire Marshall Bill face."

Meyers continued, highlighting the comedic aspect of the comparison, "I mean, come on, Ron, if you're going to get a new smile, at least aim for a Hollywood leading man, not a character known for setting his face on fire!"

The 'Fire Marshall Bill face' analogy

For those unfamiliar with 'In Living Color,' Fire Marshall Bill was a character known for his grotesque facial contortions and slapstick antics. Meyers' choice of analogy wasn't just a commentary on DeSantis' smile; it was a nod to the exaggerated nature of the changes, highlighting the potential pitfalls politicians face when attempting cosmetic enhancements.

Social media reaction

As expected, social media platforms buzzed with reactions to DeSantis' latest smile episode. Memes, gifs, and humorous takes flooded the internet, with users sharing their opinions on the governor's distinctive approach to smiling in the public eye.

The online conversation ranged from amusement to speculation about the potential impact on DeSantis' political image.

The aftermath of the third GOP debate saw social media platforms ablaze with humor as internet users seized the opportunity to poke fun at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' smile.

One user wrote, "Is he forcing a smile? I think after he was deemed "unlikeable", his handlers told him he had to smile more...lol! There it is!"

Another user wrote, "An animatronic character in any Disneyland ride breaking down and trying to kill you is actually less scary than Ron DeSantis trying to smile."

Another replied, "What is up with the tongue smile attempt thing DeSantis keeps doing."

"If DeSantis has a smile coach they need to be fired. If he doesn’t have one, it was a giant mistake . He seriously reminds me of a kindergartener smiling for their first school picture," commented one.
