PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Donald Trump's daughter-in-law and TV producer Lara Trump recently came under fire after making a comment about the usage of Spanish language in providing necessary information to the public across the US.

The former Fox News contributor appeared in a segment of NewsMax's 'Eric Bolling the Balance' and discussed about importance of paths and borders to assimilation in light of the recent stabbing attack in Dublin where an Algerian man allegedly stabbed young children outside a school.

"This is the United States of America. We speak English here, but you go anywhere in this country, and you'll find everything in English," Trump said, adding, "You also find it in Spanish."

She further mentioned, "At the very least we need a system to vet people to make sure that people are coming here for the right reasons."

Shortly after, Bolling added that Trump's suggestion was not "xenophobic or racist" but "making sure your society stays cohesive."

A clip of Trump's comment on the usage of Spanish in the US, shared by @/Acyn on X (formerly Twitter) garnered over 370K views and left several social media users disappointed.

Internet calls out Lara Trump over 'Spanish' comment

Many internet users called out Trump over her "Spanish" comment, with several dubbing her "racist" and others pointing out that the US does not have a national language.

"I wonder, when Lara is in a non- English speaking country, what language she speaks. What an arrogant racist," one wrote.

"Racist trash," one enraged user mentioned. "WE SPEAK RACIST HERE DAMMIT!" another mocked.

"When a racist doesn’t seem to know she is speaking in 'racism,'" one commented.

"We don’t have a national language and Lara Trump is a racist," a fifth mentioned.

One said, "Does she realize that Florida is a Spanish word? That Mar-a-Lago is a Spanish name? Many of our western states have Mexican names. I grew up in Los Angeles, California, for crying out loud."

While another added, "This dimwit (putting it nicely) conveniently leaves out that the language (English) isn’t the only official national language, but don’t let racist tropes stop you from preaching nationalistic ideologies to Fox viewers."

One mentioned, "I'll never understand why people like this act like offering information in more than one language causes them some personal offense or hardship. Why do they care?"

Before another said, "This is the United States of America. People speak all sorts of languages here. Get over it."

Lara Trump previously asked Americans at border to 'arm up and get guns'

Back in 2021, Trump called on Americans living at the southern border to "arm up and get guns and be ready" in response to the influx of migrants arriving at the US border, The Hill reported.

"I don’t know what you tell the people that live at the southern border. I guess they better arm up and get guns and be ready, and maybe they’re gonna have to take matters into their own hands," she said during an appearance on Fox News' 'Justice with Judge Jeanine.'

"People should never make this dangerous journey here. It’s bad for Americans. It’s bad for the migrants. It’s bad all around," Trump said at the time.
